Whitey, Prevailing said something similar just the other day.

Do you support his stance on sending Juliar out of the country in a chaff bag?

He did. He said they should send Juliar out to sea in a chaff bag. He said they should get her out of his country by drowning her and maybe she'll end up in Indonesia.

Good riddance to bad rubbish - that's exactly what he said.

Then someone asked about Tony Abbott and he said they should do the same to him and Christine Milne.

Don't you remember that?

I have only heard you say this so it  concerns me you have such violent thoughts circulating in your head about the Prime Minister.

I didn't say it - Prevailing did. I think our so-called prime minister should be sent out of the country on a boat.

Prevailing wants a chaff bag with a big stone in it.

If you disagree, Whitey, I think you should say so. I'm not putting words in your mouth or anything, but sometimes I think you agree with him.

I had someone come and quote to install some new air conditioning today .. he told me the price was only valid until the carbon tax came into affect.. I asked him why and by how much will it change .. his reply was that refrigerator coolant alone would rise from $80 kg to $280 kg ..... and he was adamant it was all down to the carbon tax ... now I tell you, how stupid can some people be to believe that? He expects me to believe that the price will rise by over 300% because of the carbon tax? hahaha you righties are so stupid it defies logic

Report him to the ACCC John Smith.

A LOT of businesses are trying to use the introduction of the Carbon Tax to piggy back totally unrelated price rises.

Businesses are free to set whatever price they want, but advertising that prices will rise by 15% next month, because of the Carbon Tax, when the true cost to them will be 5%, is illegal.
I hope they prosecute a heap of people, right at the start, to discourage others from pursuing this coalition inspired deceitfulness.
If they do, what's the bet they use, "Tony told me", as their primary defence.
I wonder if trading on the word of a proven liar, over actual verifiable costings, will hold up as a valid defence.
Maybe Tony could be cited as co-conspirator to obtain benefit by deception? Grin Grin Grin Grin

This happened when the GST was brought in too but because they had to account for it on the docket somewhat it was under control a lil more. This time its totally uncontrolled and not only greedy bastards will take advantage to put prices up phenomenally but greedy "lib supporters" will also do it just to make it look worse.

Best idea is to hold off and wait a year or so, if you can, the greedy pigs will be out of business by then and people will be scrambling for jobs.

If shops want to go over the top with increased prices, give them a miss too, shop off shore (online) if you can.  They might lower prices before they go bust, if not tough for them, good riddance to rip-off merchants.

You should be able to get a rough idea of what's a fair increase. That air conditioning bloke was dreaming if he thought he'd get away with that. They'll try though.

Implication of the carbon tax in the Australian refrigeration industry

We have just received notification from our suppliers to expect huge increases in refrigerant gas pricing due to the ” carbon tax ” which will come into effect in the very near future here in Austalia. As the chemical composition of the refrigerant has a high carbon content we are told to expect almost the doubling in prices.
As an example the refrigerant used in most domestic air conditioners and commercial refrigeration will cost consumers in the vicinity of $160 per KG….

A ducted air conditioning system may require a refrigerant charge ~ 6 KG = $960.

These cost increases are expected to also impact heavily on small business such as independent supermarkets, butchers, delis and alike which use a lot of refrigeration equipment.

A butchers cool room system may require a refrigerant charge ~15KG = $2400

Equipment maintenance costs will escalate dramatically.

Expect this to be passed on to the consumer in higher food costs at the checkout.

The carbon tax is no different from any other tax increase.
