Anyways, after reading up on SGT. Bergdahl I'm really suspicious about this email that was sent to his parents. Some of it is linguistic oddities, some of it is the man's background, and some of it is his actions during his captivity. 

Linguistic oddities:

Some of the bits quoted in the OP article like calling his CO a "concreted old fool". I spent six years in the US Army hanging around Infantrymen and for the life of me I've never heard of a line grunt refer to officers like that.  No, I don't mean that we never smack talk our chain of command.  Soldiers tend to take perverse pleasure in describing at great length and with much vulgarity the manifold failings of the officers appointed over them.  If the email had said "Colonel Soandso is an ass kissing paper pushing POG with delusions of competence who'd gladly toss every swinging-dick in this battalion under a bus if it means he can have his first star" I'd find it believable.  "Conceited old fool" not so much.

Background:

Bergdahl's a native of Sun Valley, Idaho. Dude grew up in mountain country at the foot of one of the biggest ski resorts in the US in a state that has the highest per-capita rate of white supremacist membership in the entire country.  While Military service tends to knock most of the racist out of people, I really doubt that a clean cut white kid from Idaho would actually sympathize with the Taliban without you holding a figgin' gun to his head (turns out they did exactly that in a couple of the videos they released showing SGT. Bergdahl, who knew...).

Actions during captivity:

Last year in September he made yet another escape attempt and was recaptured after three days.  If SGT. Bergdahl was really down with the Taliban and was so disgusted with his country then why the repeated escape attempts? 


Yeah, I'm pretty much convinced someone else wrote the email and sent it one SGT. Bergdahl's email.  though I wonder if they used a civilian mail provider or if they actually used SGT. Bergdahl's AKO account.  Would be pretty damn hilarious if they used his AKO.

In April, Israeli soldiers used 13-year-old Muhammed Badwan as a "human shield" during a demonstration in the West Bank village of Biddu. Notice that he is still 13 years old. Again, it could be a clerical mistake, but the boy shows resilience and is highly reusable in his role of a human shield. This is probably why the Zionists decided to put him in some (hitherto secret) suspended animation machine. Israeli human rights activists have accused border police of using a 13-year-old Palestinian as a human shield. Rabbis for Human Rights say that Mohammed Badwan was tied by police to a jeep during a recent demonstration in the West Bank village of Bidou.

This was posted in March 2007 too. Surely our boy gets around. Besides, is it possible that he's developed some affinity for a specific border police jeep? Because the picture used is usually the same, sometimes cropped and sometimes not.
