If it's that way for soldiers, then why not for pollies as well?
Groan - I wish some people would find the real reason instead of listening to soothsayers and miscreants
Defence personnel were entitled to two paid leave warrants per year to visit your next of kin. This was to compensate (for Navy at least) for the hardships of living on ships, sub standard shore based accommodation and a myriad of other reasons
Now, when in home port, only duty watch live on ships, the majority of shore based personnel live ashore in rental accommodation, so the whole reasoning for the two free warrants has changed
Under 21? Sure - you get one warrant
Married and seperated due to posting? You get six warrants a year for either one to visit your spouse or your spouse to visit you
I think you will find most single serviceman, married people would much rather the situation we have now rather than two warrants a year
