Armed rebels attack Syria infrastructure: Local media

...

Syrian armed groups fighting against the government of President Bashar al-Assad are reportedly attacking the country’s infrastructure, local media say.

Syrian media said on Friday that the anti-government armed groups shelled a power generator near the capital Damascus, causing blackouts in the surrounding areas.

The Syrian Minister of Electricity Imad Khamis told the state news agency (SANA) that the country’s firefighting service has managed to put out the fire caused by the attack.

Gunmen have also reportedly targeted military units charged with protecting an oilfield in the eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr.

Local media also said that several assailants were killed in an exchange of fire between the armed rebels and the Syrian security forces.

Meanwhile, five people including policemen lost their loves in two separate car bombings in Damascus. Another car bomb attack killed two policemen in the northwestern province of Idlib.

Violence rages on in Syria despite a UN-brokered ceasefire, which is part of the peace plan proposed by UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011 and many people, including hundreds of security forces, have been killed in the country over the past 15 months.

While the West and the Syrian opposition say the government is responsible for the killings, Damascus blames “outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest and insists that it is being orchestrated from abroad.

My question is who supports SBS to without any press credibility spread one sided anti syrian propaganda telling us all the time that Syrian army is only responsible for those massacres.
The question is:
Is state Australian TV program SBS also funded by Saudi Arabia, CIA, etc to constantly misinform public about syrian conflict?

Who else pays him and others from SBS?

Well it's not just SBS, but you can't believe everything that you hear out of Syria. When a country becomes as lawless as Syria is at the moment, it's difficult to tell who's doing what.  Syria is crying out for intervention right now. They could do with a contingent of peacekeepers from countries  such as Morocco or Algeria.

SBS is 100% government funded, so it is no surprise that they follow the Ausmerica propaganda. The SBS news is filled with CNN and BBC snippets to fill the one hour news block.

I no longer watch SBS news, it is not a credible news source.  I am disgusted with the news presenters who have sold themselves short  and have decided to go along with the spin. All our tv stations are centred toward feeding the brain-dead what they crave for. We don't have independent journalists who can tell us the real truth.

George Negus, it is all your fault!!!!! you should have stayed with SBS to keep the bastards honest.

Hilary Clinton has decided that 40 years of Assad family rule is long enough. If America would stop funding the rebels, Syria might have a chance to regain some semblance of peace.

Israel smuggling weapons to Syria through Iraqi Kurdistan, sources say

Israeli airplanes are smuggling weapons into Syria through Iraq's Kurdistan region, Syrian sources told Press TV.

According to the sources, Israel sends weapons to Iraqi Kurdistan, which are then smuggled into Syria with financial assistance from Qatar.

Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government President Massoud Barzani has facilitated the operations of illegal Israeli firms in the region.

Barzani also refused to hand over fugitive Iraqi Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi, who is accused of involvement in terrorist attacks, to the Iraqi government and helped him flee from the country.

Hashemi, who is accused of running a terror squad in Iraq, flew to Turkey on April 10 after visiting Qatar and Saudi Arabia on the third leg of what he called an “official visit” to regional countries. He still resides in Turkey.

Meanwhile, the Syrian sources said that Washington has trained 400 al-Qaeda militants in European countries. They are then reportedly transferred to Syria to carry out acts of violence.

The unrest in Syria began in March 2011, with demonstrations being held both against and in support of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government.

The West and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of killing protesters, but Damascus blames “outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.

Syria faces Western armed terror operation: American author

Syria is facing an armed terror operation of Western powers and their instruments inside the country, an American author tells Press TV.

“It is not to say that the soldiers of the regime do not respond or carry out armed attacks, but this is a government under siege,” said Ralph Schoenman, political analyst and author of the Hidden History of Zionism.

“This is an armed terror operation of Western powers and their instruments,” Schoenman made the comments in an interview with Press TV on Saturday.

The American political commentator also referred to the “fact that they (armed groups in Syria) not only target government forces and government soldiers, but populations that are either supportive of the government or not supportive of these outside interventions.”

“What we are witnessing here is an imperial undertaking to dismantle a government, a sovereign government; to destroy the state not just the government, but the state, the country itself.”

Schoenman also referred to the six-point peace plan presented by the UN-Arab League envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan, in March, and said, “These so-called multi-national efforts and the UN peace plan are nothing but a fig leaf and a pretext to [raise] the prospect of direct intervention [in Syria].”

The remarks come at a time when some Western governments, including the US government, have called for the overthrow of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

“Who are they to remove a government in another country? That is imperialism and that is what we are witnessing here,” Schoenman said.

America can't tear themselves away from their Imperial past. They continue to invade nations under the premise that their leaders are murdering the people. For some strange reason America's allies are prepared to not only turn a blind eye to it, but join in the rhetoric which by now must be beyond obvious.

Where is the proof that Assad is killing his people?

There is as much proof in this case as there was with Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.

Israeli president supports armed groups in Syria

...

Israeli President Shimon Peres has put his weight behind armed groups in Syria despite Damascus efforts to bring calm to the crisis-hit country.

Peres said in an interview with Israeli public radio on Sunday that he respected the armed gangs, who "expose themselves to live fire and I hope that they will win."

This is while the Syrian government has announced that the armed groups are behind the killings and the unrest in the country.

Syria has been the scene of violence since March 2011. Many people, including security forces, have lost their lives in the unrest.

In March, UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan proposed a six-point peace plan to end the violence in Syria. However, armed groups abandoned the plan last week.

Meanwhile, Russia on Saturday proposed an international conference on Syria and reiterated Moscow's support for Annan’s peace plan.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow would not allow the UN Security Council to approve foreign military intervention in Syria, which could lead to "the gravest consequences for the entire Middle Eastern region."

The West and the Syrian opposition accuse the Syrian government of killing the protesters.

But Damascus blames ''outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups'' for the unrest, stating that it is being orchestrated from abroad.

Yes. The thought has occurred to me that the armed gangs who carried out the last three massacres could have been committing these acts to make it look as if Assad is carrying out the attacks in order to garner more international support for their cause.

Assymmetrical warfare techniques -  In other words, if you can't fight on equal terms, you use underhanded techniques - terrorism if you like, which takes the position that even the most heinous of acts can be justified for a greater cause.

Of course we can only speculate on this, because we can't rely on sources within Syria. It could just as easily be vigilante groups who support Assad, but are acting independently.

Zionists using three-track strategy to destroy Syria: Analyst

...

A political analyst says Zionists are pursuing a three-track strategy of “labyrinthine madness” to topple the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and destroy Syria.

“A politically incorrect wave of labyrinthine madness is casting its heavy shadow over Syria as the country is being surrounded left and right by Zionist plots thickening beyond control,” wrote Dr. Ismail Salami, author and political commentator, in an article published on the Global Research website.

Pointing to the activities of such Zionist heavyweights as Haim Saban, “an Egyptian born Israeli-American media mogul…and self-described as ‘a one-issue man’ with Israel being ‘his issue’,” he explained how Tel Aviv and its agents are working to unseat Assad.

“Israel is following a tripartite plot in order to topple Bashar Assad and destroy Syria under the guidance of [such figures as] Haim Saban: 1. make donations to political parties (e.g. funding and arming rebels and Wahhabi terrorists in Syria) 2. establish think tanks (e.g. setting up centers such as the Zionist Saban centers in Washington and Doha and formulating effective strategies to bring down the Assad government) and 3. control media (blacking out Arab and Western media from delivering honest and unbiased reports on the Syrian situation),” the author noted.

Elaborating on the role of Saban, he went on to say that in 2002, the influential Zionist “founded the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings Institution, in Washington, D.C. which is affiliated to the powerful Zionist lobby in America notoriously known as AIPAC.”

“Three ways to be influential in American politics are to make donations to political parties, establish think tanks, and control media outlets,” Salami quoted Saban as saying during a conference in Israel.

The political analyst further singled out two other Zionist figures, Martin Indyk -- Vice President and Director of Foreign Policy at Brookings Institution -- and Shadi Hamid -- “the director of research at the Brookings Doha Center and Fellow at the Zionist Saban Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings Institution” -- for devising plans to subvert the Assad government.

“In fact, these centers are secretly tasked with formulating strategies and exploring effective ways to destabilize any regime in the Middle East which proves hostile or detrimental to the interests of Israel,” he said.

The author of Human Rights in Islam also criticized the “Arab puppet regimes such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar” for serving the interests of Washington and Tel Aviv by funding and equipping the Syrian rebels as well as financing the anti-Syria Zionist centers and think tanks.

“The complicated situation in Syria is ever more obfuscated by myriad forces at work to destroy the friend of Iran and the foe of Israel,” Salami stated, adding that “it is evident that the Zionist plot has been craftily devised to involve a military intervention in Syria and turn the country into chaos and ruins.”

CIA, MI6 agents direct massacres in Syria: American analyst

...

An American author says agents of the CIA and MI6 are directing armed groups to carry out massacres inside Syria, Press TV reports.

Stephen Lendman, writer and radio host from Chicago, said the CIA and MI6 “special forces” are in Syria now, directing massacres.

“They go after pro-Assad loyalists,” Lendman stated in an interview with Press TV on Saturday.

“There is no question this is a Washington-orchestrated war.”

“It is a low-level war to the extent that NATO has not gotten directly involved. But it is exactly what happened in Libya last year. An insurgency began. Washington orchestrated it. Insurgents were recruited. They were funded. They were armed.”

The American author stated that Syria has been “targeted for regime change for years, at least a decade.”

Lendman also referred to the six-point peace plan presented by the UN-Arab League envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan, in March.

“His so-called peace plan puts the onus on a side. He barely mentions these insurgents, these death squads, these killers.”

“I have written about Kofi Annan. I have written several times about him. During his tenure as UN secretary general, a decade, a solid decade, he never did a thing to stop imperial wars,” Lendman added.

He made the comments on the same day when the opposition Syrian National Council (SNC) elected 56-year-old Abdulbaset Saida, a Kurdish activist, as its new leader during a meeting in Istanbul.

Saida replaced former SNC leader Burhan Ghalioun, who resigned in May.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister said in a press conference in Moscow on June 9 that Russia “will not sanction the use of force (against Syria) at the United Nations Security Council.”

Lavrov added that the Annan plan had begun to “seriously falter,” but that there was “no alternative” to it.
