You can be much better than that.

So why do we not hold the same standards for people who do the same thing with Muslims etc??
There is about 100 threads a week stereotyping Muslims or Islamists, and for some reason people find this acceptable.

Sorry but Avram, if he really is who he claims to be is a terrorist and deserves no sympathy or kind words from me.

I agree PP I dislike a great deal of the anti-muslim rhetoric I have seen over the years, and I personally would be considered by most as being anti-Islam, which would be true enough, as I am anti-religion, across the board, but aspects of Islam are absolutely unacceptable to me, to a greater degree than many other dogmas.
If I am alerted to racial hatred being preached anywhere, I will try to address the issue.

I havent seen anyone say that "jews" are bad except when avram refers to the jews that raid gaza then i have to refer to the jews that murder ppl in gaza because he referred to them as jews. Thing is mostly its referred to in the supposedly acceptable manner but ppl take issue anyway. I really dont use the word "zionists" very often because it doesnt convey my meaning. ISRAEL as a country is who is doing the bad stuff. @ least the politicians and military. Why should i refine it any more? Yanks are referred to as the yanks or the americans or the us. UK is referred to as uk, Israel is referred to as israel.

PP has called a Jewish poster "Jew boy", called all Jews "scum" and stated on here that Jews "deserved the holocaust".

When you add the fact he also stated it was unfortunate the 9/11 terrorists didn't kill more US citizens, you realize overall he is quite a despicable individual.

All in all though anti-semitism is wrong and this board should not in any way encourage it.

I've seen Islam operating in many parts of the world, and I know many highly educated Muslims whom I respect. Predominantly Muslim societies generally tend to be very over-civilised and overly polite rather than anything else, but then no two countries are the same.

The part I object to is that of imposing religious laws on an otherwise free society. The religion itself is just another religion. The way that apostates are treated in practice is no different to that of certain fundamentalist Christian cults, such as the Brethren. (of course, that doesn't justify it)

I think that religious freedom, including the freedom to choose your own or "no religion" should be a basic human right.

The criticism of Islam is overdone on Oz Politics, however it reflects a general prejudice in society at large, and it should be voiced.

The other thing I object to is hypocrisy. Some of the reasons given by Christians for condemning Islam can equally be applied to other non- Christians.

When it comes to Judaism, I'd say that it's perfectly ok to criticise the religion, or the zionist policies of Israel, but when it comes to criticisng an entire ethnicity, that's where you cross the line into bigotry - that's how I interpret it personally at least.
