Why should the Jews be a protected species and immune to insult and criticism?

We shouldn't be addressing our hostility towards the Jews when our concerns are about aggressive Zionism not Judaism.

Judaism is a religion. I do not like religions.

Very true - but I've noticed the members who attack the Muslims here don't bother distinguishing between the moderate Muslims and the extremists. They are all lumped in together.

I can see very little difference between the Jews and the Muslims apart from the colour of their robes.

In some instances this law can be enforced where it compromises a job opportunity or causes physical suffering - but generally no. It is hard to prove racial vilification in Australia. It has to be proved first that either of the above actually occurred and then it is left to the discretion of the Judge or magistrate to make a decision.

You can thank John Howard for relaxing the racial vilification laws. He changed them in 2001 to ensure they were ambiguous and would not harm employers.

Actually Glee, that is a disingenuous argument that is usually promoted by racists, in a poor attempt to partially justify their repugnant, negative behaviour.

The term race is not genetic specific, and encompasses genetic racial identity, cultural identity, and national identity.

An aussie for instance could come from any number of different ethnic backgrounds, but would be justified in taking offense if somebody said, "I HATE aussies, they are all drunken criminals, and slobs, and all aussies should be banned from our country", as that would be a racist slur, and rightfully considered racial vilification, and a racist comment.

Sorry - not trying to incite anything here. From my understanding the term "race" is defined by common ancestry. "Australian" is not a race, but a nationality. Muslim is a religion, Jewish is a religion. I was coming at the issue from a biological viewpoint not a cultural one.

Granted the term "race" has morphed over the years. Perhaps it is time it was more tightly defined or dropped altogether.

Spot on Glee, you saying it has morphed is spot on, it has become a lot more encompassing than 18th century ideas of race being restricted to Caucusoid, Negroid, or Mongoloid, were, and I think how it is used today works reasonably well, and most people do understand it as it is currently understood, which is why I said where people try to limit it's meaning back to that of 100 years ago or more, usually do so because of their own personal agenda, and their desire to self justify.

That's strange. I thought he was mentioned in the Bible - maybe the OT. To those who are religious - the Bible, Quran and the Siddur/Tanakh or whatever it's called, all contain real life characters. Surely Abraham gets a mention somewhere?
