You don't know what stress has endured. A very insensitive comment.

One thing is for sure Mr Ashby has an axe to grind with somebody.....This will not end well for anyone involved.....The damage to Slipper has been done already and Ashby cannot expect to gain to much from the infamy he will obtain by his actions.....Who wins???

All I see so far is a whiny little bitch making a mockery out of a very serious issue so Tony Abbott has something to fill the media with other than policy alternatives.

How is Ashby at fault in any of this?

I looked up Mark Brindle, but couldn't find anything relating to what you said. What is the story there?

It isn't difficult cods. You just need a modicum of thought to follow the steps:

1. Slipper was charged with a civil action by Ashby for alleged sexual harrassment

2. Tony Abbott & Co. demanded (quite loudly) that Slipper MUST stand aside since the charges demeaned the office of the Speaker

3. Slipper did indeed stand aside

4. Abbott was later charged with a civil action that he defamed a person

5. Now Ashby is charging both Carr and Joyce with defamation

Soooo.... if the demand is that Carr and Joyce should stand aside (as others here - not me - have said) then I put it that Tony must also stand aside. HE IS THE ONE WHO REQUIRED THIS LEVEL OF INTEGRITY. HE MUST ABIDE BY IT.

Ashby is the victim which in labor laws thats make him the villain.he is accused of trying to bring down one of their own...

one of their innocent members of course..

so Ashby's the baddy  I am afraid..

did you see where THOMO has once again refused to speak to the police?????..

this gentleman is certainly being looked after by someone in high places.

we should all be so lucky.

Personally, cods, I wish they would ALL stand aside and give us an early election.

This government is a farce.....even the unions are embarrassed by all the goings on...(as well they should be). Every day another low point in politics. Disgraceful is the word for Julia and all those who are supporting that grub, Thomson.

AH yes Cods usual slide into grubby insults when she is shown to be ignorant and Olive supports? really the dull norm mentality here is so funny. "It's all labours fault." You people really are a reflection of the electorate as a whole, slow and gullible. Do you for a moment think this has not gone on for years, do you for a moment think that the lib's are any different. Slipper is theirs and do you think if the independents had gone with Abbott we would not be seeing slipper as the Thompson. I would bet the Thompson situation would hardly even be on the radar. The blind belief that this is a labor problem is fundamentally simple and gives me no hope that any positive change will come out of this. Politics will now get dirtier and more secretive as a result that is all because the public are dull norm to the real depth of the corruption.

It is always interesting to me that when a couple of people agree on something, on this forum, it seems that it always has to be on the left side of politics or it is completely wrong. Anyone with a differing opinion is
immediately lambasted or, as in this case, called "slow and gullible" a "reflection on the 'dull norm' mentality of the electorate". And that comes from someone who doesn't even know how to spell "Labor". This "dull norm" electorate will have its say at the next election and perhaps you will see that they aren't too thrilled with what you must perceive as the current "smart progressive"
government.

Well, excuse me....but I do believe that when Tony Abbott was given opportunities to bring the Greens onside (fat chance the Greens would ever agree to that really!) he probably thought that their demands were not what he saw as a future stable govt. It always was going to be a Green/Labor Government, especially considering the absolute hatred that Windsor holds for Abbott and that Oakeshott was a closet Labor man....as will be attested to by those who were conned in their electorates.

It was a big relief for Abbott when Julia took on Slipper. As he said at the time, "He is LABOR's problem now!!" A reference to the fact that they had wanted him gone for some time. Yes...he IS Labor's problem now...much to their chagrin and embarrassment. I well remember the comments on here about how clever Julia was in making him Speaker. I also remember how everyone thought that it was time for Kevin Rudd to be replaced by Julia Gillard. Replacement of one incompetent leader with another hasn't worked, it seems

certain people dont really want to see  or in this case own what they actually did.. olive its really simple..

gillard recruited slipper at a time when he knew he was gone..[the libs already had enlisted a new member to run in Lynn]. the labs recruited this guy because they thought they could manipulate him as he was offside with the Libs and like all lefties.. they assumed he would want PAYBACK.little did they know they were dealing with an egomaniac..who took the position of speaker very very seriously..

except for one failing....well two really..

I knew he had a problem with cabcharge.travel allowances.. he had been made to pay back money in the past...

however I for one had never heard of any sexual harassment charges in fact if he had been charged and found guilty I am almost sure that would have banished him from parliament..

I mean even they have a line that must never be crossed... dont they??????????

so apart from his mismanagement of money..which the labs new about as well..

that kind of leaves the labs with a whole lot of egg on their face as they recruited him......they actually went after him all behind Abbott back...

the only way they know

still wondering about the grubby insults... did you get any of those olive...LOL
