Without a quote to Ken Henry actually saying that Australia has wasted the mining boom, or at the very least, a link to a report of such, from a credible source, you do not actually provide us with any reliable evidence that he even said that, DRAH.

I certainly believe that the Howard government was absolutely irresponsible, in the way that they chose to waste, so much of the massive windfall bonus to Tax receipts, that they received whilst in office, and would enjoy a discussion on that subject.
To see highly respected, and well credentialed experts, echoing similar sentiments would certainly add to the debate, and also may spark enough interest for some of our Howard supporting members to debate it with you.
However, DRAH, if you make yourself a joke to them, by just posting a whole series of Pro-Labor, "motherhood" statements, then you will never attract the debates you want.

He didn't say it: he said, "....that's for others to decide!"

Shouldn't we put all DRAH's posts in the drugs thread?

Read into that what you will. I'm pretty sure that Ken Henry believes we have wasted the mining boom.

What if no one has any use for our minerals bigole?

Mining bust???

Thats a silly interpretation. he said 'i cannot be the judge of that nor can anny of us'. In otherwords we will rely on hindsight for the answer.

Longy doesn't sound like he has much momentum behind that answer...............  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Ok to answer your somewhat disconnected question.

I will remember howard as the filthy scumbag fascist and nothing more.

Still doesn't detract from my statement, the boom isn't over so you can rely on labor to implement the big policies with the same professionalism as the they did for the pink bats, BER and the mining tax.

You can't admit that China won't boom forever!

You can't admit that Colin Barnett, the premier of W.A., doesn't even call it a boom!

You can't admit the sonic boom has been wasted and the Liberal Party will never hear the end of it!

WHO DOES A LIBERAL VOTER THINK HE IS FOOLING WHEN HE SPEAKS?  Cheesy Cheesy

1. Not a liberal voter or supporter, so well done there

2. Making up words and not checking your rant before hitting the send button also brilliant.

3. No-one yet has explain what this zero-growth utopia looks like, let alone how it is supposed to benefit all humanity, constantly crapping out the word sustainable doesn't mean too much here in the real world without substance to define it.

4. Going on about 'rates of change' without providing the context by which you are using it to 'prove' how smart your; doesn't

Calm down, think about what information you wish to convey, type it out while still remaining calm, have someone read it, if they say what the bugger are you on about try re-wording it and finally USE THE SPELL CHECK it only takes a minute.

Finally I ain't your buddy!

Not once did I ever state that this boom would "last forever", the very meaning of the word should indicate that.

For the final time I said it wasn't over (this is not to be interpreted as lasting forever) and that labor with their long history of getting the big jobs done right should be able to fix any problem left behind by howard.

Read it a few time if it helps.

I stand corrected!

BHP reckons another ten years and then Australia could be in serious trouble....

Always good when making such a bold statement that you provide the source from which it came.

Otherwise some people might think you were lying, not me of course I believe everything you post on these boards.

So no link to that statement then?

Good thing I believe everything you say, without any evidence to back it up; I think I might sell up and re-train into another industry before everything collapses.  Grin
