I think people need to remember this is a rorting of the money of some of the lowest paid people in Australia.

Spending their money (and these people do the sh*ttiest of jobs we would never do) on air travel for your wife, running a campaign, hookers and just living the lifestyle of a millionaire - is downright obscene.

The fact some people on here would think it funny if he gets away with it is just an outrage.

None of this is to be commended or applauded - it is morally disgraceful and offensive to some of the lowest paid people in Australia.

Try to remember that when you are all engaging in politically aligned battles over MP numbers....

I couldn't give a monkey's toss about the Government staying or going, I am just appalled that this Union leader behaved in this manner.

You mispelt. Give the B a W and im in full agreeance. If you meant bankers, then make your own thread on it. This is about the rorting of poor working class money for the empowerment and greed of labor ex-union members.

Maybe every single ex-union member in labor should have a fine tooth comb go over their dealing with other peoples money while they were trying to get into politics.

Several investigations have put these allegations and all the officials in charge of that union including Thompson should get what's coming to them if those allegations are proven. I have no issues with that being done and in fact would expect it to be done. Nor do I have any problem with the laws being tightened to ensure this kind of thing doesn't happen again.

What I have issue with is the constant veiled allegations of criminal activity from the right based on nothing except their own desires. They want it to be so and so they claim it is so. For their own ends.

Thompson may be scum but the right are turning into maggots feeding off scum.

IF the allegations are proven?

4 years of investigation by the FWA not good enough for you?

Mind you the FWA was the creation of Gillard back in 2007 because she said the Ombudsman was not good enough

FWA (a Labor affiliated organisation) came out with the details about Thomson, entailing just what Andrei said. What more is there to say?

To be fair Macca - the allegations have a lot more weight now and this additional report from the FWA adds a lot of clout to it (hence the jettisoning of all support for the guy from Shorten, Gillard and co) - but until he is found guilty they are still allegations.

I actually think he genuinely thinks he is innocent, but thats because he's convinced himself.

Until he is found in a courtroom - he is innocent.

I have no doubt he will be found guilty - as do his former Labor colleagues - but they do remain allegations.

Actually the FWA is a government body. You don't do yourself any credit claiming it is "Labor affiliated". Next thing you'll be wailing that all of the CSIRO is secretly in a cabal with the Labor party because they won't give you the answers you want.

But that's another topic.  Smiley

And so... the FWA came out with a bunch of matters that need to be answered. And so they should be. If found guilty (yet to be determined) then Thompson should face the associated penalties. Which I gather amounts to payment of fines.

Hardly the hard time that lolly and longfool are crapping on about based on shadowy allegations that they plucked out of their arses is it?

FWA is either Labor affiliated, or ridiculously incompetent. Taking 4 years to complete these investigations??

Thomson is alleged to have breached 156 contraventions, and I am sure that WHEN, not if, he is found guilty, he'll get more than just a few fines.

For me, this is not about political gain. It's about ethics and fairness. I want him brought to justice for stealing and using the money of others (especially bearing in mind that these people do some of the most disgusting work imaginable, for very little money) for prostitutes, airfare, dining and election campaigning. If it brings down the government, then that is just an added bonus.
