Muso,

Of course the Quantum computers of the future will make this one look like a pocket calculator. It's early days yet.

Not of course - it's yet to be seen if real advantage can be gained
to enable  as I wrote above - able to break 128 bit encryption.
That would be an easy problem for a working quantum computer.

Has that problem been solved with supercomputers yet?

This is only a 128qbit computer. That's roughly equivalent to a 256bit conventional computer. The technology works, but they are only at the crawling stage. It's almost inevitable that they will be able to break any encryption within the next 5 years.

I doubt that encryption will ever be broken -
unless some mathmatician breaks the prime number theory.
I think with the 1024 bit encryption there
are more possibilities than there are atoms in the universe.

Don't hold your breath.
I don't believe there will ever be a quantum computer that does any useful processing.

It's about a new read write medium!

Biological they are thinking but how to do it??

IT'S OVER 50 YEARS OFF BUT ATLEAST THEY ARE THINKING BIG SO THERE COULD BE SPINOFFS JUST FROM THE THOUGHT PROCESS!!

*Sure....they're anti competitive as any subsidised job is.  It wouldn't be there without the tax payer.  Very damned difficult for a brainwashed collectivist to understand that I know....  (swaggy) *

Synthetic Photosynthesis. Google it.  That's what we'd gain from Quantum Computing.

Remember the old Norwegian Fairy Tale about the mill that produced salt?

Dare to imagine one that produces carbon fibre building products out of thin air.  Wink
