Haha I have never called anyone a pedo.
I have said that they are defending/supporting organisations that defend/support pedo's.
In making those snide, and cowardly accusations, you diminish your own credibility, and you try and score some cheap point against another poster who you have developed a personal enmity towards, which does you or your arguments, no credit whatsoever.
I believe it is a reasonable assumption, that when you refer to an organisation that "
defends/supports pedo's" you are referring to the catholic church.
Now to take issue with how elements within the church have handled the issue of pedophilia, is certainly a valid criticism, and an issue that deserves to be discussed seriously.
You do not achieve that by throwing inaccurate and inappropriate personal slurs around about people whose position on this issue is unknown to you.
Many members of the church have tried to have this problem addressed more appropriately, for a very long time, and in no way could they be accused of supporting pedophilia, just because they are a member of a church, who has had members who have been guilty of these crimes, any more than a member of a football club could be accused of supporting rape, because a player for their club was convicted of such a crime.
I have also seen members here describing the Labor party as supporting pedophiles, and by association, Labor voters, because their have been Labor politicians guilty of those heinous crimes.
This is equally unfair, and again, it shows a shameful lack of respect for the seriousness that such an issue warrants, when people seek to employ it to falsely characterise whole groups as supporting a criminal behaviour that they most certainly do not.
So, in my view, if people take issue with how any groups or organisations deal with the issue of pedophilia, then by all means argue your points strongly.
Criticise any instances where criminal actions seem to be overlooked, or criminals sheltered from the law, by these organisations.
Demand that these organisations make available any material they have to public investigation, and then make accountable any who they find to be guilty of any criminal behaviour.
All that is fair game, but the unfair, and cowardly slurs suggesting guilt by the most tenuous of associations, needs to stop.
NOW!
