Its on tonight @ 8:30 channel 10.

I have seen it before and may have it on blu-ray stuck in a box somewhere from moving. It was brilliant. The cgi was great. The technology is really coming along with that kind of thing.

One problem though. My flatmate is religious. I dont know what religion he is but he watches religious tv on sunday mornings instead of going to church and is pretty weird. We dont discuss it unless its unavoidable. Anyway i asked if he was going to watch avatar tonight and he said no its too evil. I asked what was evil about it and he said he just "knows these things".

I dunno. I thought it was great. Im watching it again tonight. I will keep my eyes peeled for evilness though,

Well the "humans" were a bit evil destroying that tree but somehow I doubt that was the evil referred to. I dunno its a good movie. Spoiled by all those ads - next time I will watch it on dvd. SOB

I watched Avatar on DVD.

I just saw Avatar as a morality tale, set in an imaginary locale.

It was mildly 'engaging'.

And i enjoyed watching it.

I'd rather watch Avatar, rather than many of the programs served up on free TV in the evenings these days.

e.g.
Soaps and 'reality TV' types of programs, ......i'd rather watch paint drying, rather than watch the usual offerings, on TV of an evening,
OR, preferably, read my bible, and meditate upon what i had just read. Wink

I woke up at about the time the fake was being accepted into the 'people'. Watched it till the end. Not bad. I imagine Avatar 2 will deal with the return of the despicable humans. 'd like to see 'm get blown to smithereens!!! all over again.!!

Well, the obvious messages were environmental, moral, and a clear message that we should try to understand and respect other cultures.

I have a lot of affinity with that movie. It's a very commercial "blockbuster", but it still sends a shiver down my spine. Not only that, it's a voice against corporate bullying and cultural intolerance. I just hope that the people who saw it are motivated to press for action on global climate change.

As for me, I'm seriously contemplating making an appointment with It_Is_the_Light to fix my DNA tomorrow so I can hop on the next interstellar bus, and migrate to Pandora.

Who knows, maybe blue is the new green Wink

OK, it's basically a Hollywood action movie and it's a load of fun, but this time round, the macho action men don't win in the end.

Yeah. Not sure so much about environmental issues - yeah it was a tree but the tree was thier life. It was (imo) more about actually learning something about a culture before trying to change/destroy it. Those "destroyers" didnt want to hear that the tree was integral to the life of those ppl - all they wanted was their dollar. IMO it was the early settlers of Australia (and other coutnries) all over again.

I found the movie pretty mediocre nothing in the poll for me then.

The plot did not excite me and the message was nothing new. All it really was when you cut through the prattle was very pretty.

Your flatmate sounds like the kind who wont try something at all for some reason so minute and petty they fall back to default excuses. The quibble is probably so tiny they could not pin it down and gave up.
