Leviticus 20
Quote: 1
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
13
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman,
both of them have committed an abomination:
they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
bobby,
Good quote.
But, that law,
and the corresponding punishment, only had an application to those
particular people who were intended to be an example to the rest of mankind.
The Hebrews.
i.e.
And we other people [the rest of mankind] can do exactly what we wish in this life [and God's law, in this life does not constrain us from 'behaving badly'], BUT, when we die we will be brought to account for what we chose to do with our 'freedom'.
God has separated mankind into two groups of people in this world;
1/ The Hebrews,
his covenant people [...the Jewish people being the surviving remnant of that group of people].
2/ The rest of mankind.
Why are the Jewish people 'special' ?
Romans 3:1
What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
2 Much every way:
chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.
But God does not care if we are Jewish, OR, if alternatively, we are people
"in the world"
.
God cares about the human heart, and about our contrition, and to what measure we have a desire for righteousness.
That said,
we can live in the world, we are compelled to live in the world, but we should be mindful of with what 'messages' our conscience communicates to us.
And we should respect those messages.
Acts 10:34
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth
I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
Romans 2:11
For there is no respect of persons with God.
12
For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14
For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:15
Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
Everyday, God is calling out to us.
Do we have ears to hear ?
Is your conscience so seared by your disregard for what it says to you that you can no longer hear its messages to you ?
Revelation 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
The spirit of God is always willing to forgive, and to accept [embrace] us.
But the wicked [and the unrepentant] ?
No.
The wicked, and the unrepentant, will be 'discarded' by God.
