Oh, no, not asylum seekers AGAIN!
Mar 19th, 2012 at 6:56am

I have no doubt this topic has been done to death here, just like the "a" one! But I'm new here....

Asylum seekers are a minor molehill turned into a mountain. The number of asylum seekers is tiny. A bit more than NZ, for sure, but no-one wants to go there any more.......

Q1: So why are Australians so het up about this?

About three times as many seekers travel to Australia by plane than by sea. Yet Aussies don't seem to care about the plane people.

Q2: Why?

Q3 Who are the criminals here, the people smugglers or the boatpeople?

Our xenophobia was successfully exploited by John Howard so the conservatives have been pushing the button ever since.

It is interesting to note that for most of his Prime Ministership Howard's policy on boat people was identical to our current policy. Wasn't an issue in the public's consciousness till Howard played the race card.

The vast percentage of our boat people are legal asylum seekers doing exactly what you or I would do to protect our families. Over and over again they are incorrectly labeled as illegal immigrants. They are certainly not the criminals.

The majority are brainwashed xenophobic racist bigots who are too stupid to find out for themselves the tiny impact that asylum seekers have on our nation.

Mostly Alan Jones followers. If he told them to, they would drink the cool aid too.

When its pointed out that 4000 asylum seekers per year came to this country while Howard was stopping the boats we realise that refugees will come here no matter what political solutions the govt comes up with.
Look at the refugees flooding across the Syrian, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan borders as well of the borders of countries in Africa and Asia and we also realise we carry very little of the burden.

Because the people who turn up on the boats are urchins who can't afford any better.
They are the low level pond life who I am happy to contribute to making their lives better where they are in the 3rd world but I would rather not have to share my country with them thank you.

Don't we have enough deadbeats without importing other people's trash?

The leftists are filthy Liars

We have mandatory detention for asylum seekers so where did the leftist get this number of 4000 per year did they pluck it from their ass?

Immigration detention statistics contradict the lies told by the leftists.

The leftists ignore the facts to make up propaganda.

Your numbers on those arriving by plane do not match the numbers of plane arrivals in mandatory detention.
Please cite evidence when making outrageous claims!

83.5% of all so called asylum seekers are still claiming centrelink benefits up to 5 years after arriving in Australia.
The Labor and Leftist left out pension payments with centrelink, are they hoping nobody will notice?
Page 26 for this 83.5% still on welfare up to 5 years after arrival-
http://www.immi.gov.au/media/publications/research/_pdf/settlement-outcomes-new-...

3200 out of 3237 boat people surveyed said they disposed of their passport before coming to Australia by boat after flying into Indonesia with a passport.
That is almost 99% of those surveyed who threw away their passports.
A genuine refugee would have no reason to dispose of their passport

4 boat people were in detention when Labor came to power.

Are you the opposite of a xenophobe pansi?

Would the exact opposite of a xenophobe be someone who promiscuosly embraces foreign cultures while snobbishly rejecting their own home grown culture?

Yes the asylum seekers make a wonderful contribution with 83.5% of them still on welfare up to 5 years after arriving.

Yes, but she was led into it by Tony Abbott and the shockjocks.

After the ETS, it was the one policy area that was polling badly when Gillard took over from Rudd.

Rudd's policy on boat people was to say nothing and just hope it would all go away.

Gillard, following the ministrations of the factional Right (Mark Arbib, etc), was forced to address the issue.

Her first mistake was to announce the East Timor solution without talkling to the right people in East Timor.

Her second mistake was Malaysia.

Her third mistake wasn't a mistake at all, but a High Court ruling that banned offshore processing.

Labor's proposed legislation to work around the ruling was vetoed by Abbott for purely political purposes - what to do?

Comunity processing was the only thing left on the table, and the logical policy choice. It also solved the problem of children in detention.

Malaysia WAS a dud policy, as everybody knew. You didn't have to look too deeply to work out that it was all smoke and mirrors.

However, this issue is smoke and mirrors from all sides. All the Libs have is a mantra: stop the boats.

They won't be able to change the offshore processing decision and restablish Nairu without a majority in the Senate. They won't be able to turn boats back with the Navy's OH&S policies.

They will have their hands as tied as Labor now does. They will not stop any boats.

The last point you make and have highlighted is patently untrue.

Bowen: Well, in some cases, documentation is lost, that is fair. In some cases, in many cases, it is destroyed. And the decision maker can take into account the destroying of documents in determining credibility of the claim. But at the end of the day, somebody is a refugee or they're not. I know the Opposition says, ‘Well, if they didn't have documents we'd presume they're not a refugee.' Well, you can't do that under the Refugees Convention. They're a refugee or they're not and an independent decision maker has to make that decision. Are they at risk of persecution if you sent them back to the country they came from? And whether they've got documents or not, that can go to their credibility, but it can't be used to determine whether somebody's a genuine refugee or somebody is simply claiming to be a refugee and they're not

Why do the leftists always avoid the fact that almost 99% of these people dispose of their passports?

The minister sidestepped these questions as well.

My understanding is that the people smugglers require them to destroy their passports. It is ridiculous to assume that DIAC was unable to confirm the identies of all the asylum seekers. I have dealt with the a number of boat arrivals in a professional capacity and their true identity is well known to the government.

Right a few facts:

1. I cannot provide sources to my claims because, under forum rules, I am not allowed to yet. As soon as I can, I will.

2.The public debate on asylum seekers has been focusing on boat arrivals, but government figures show that the large majority of asylum applicants arrive by plane.

This statement comes from a highly reputable news source. I can't tell you which, for the reason, see 1. When I can, I will. Until then you'll just have to find it yourself.

3. Australians get het up about boat people because politicians realise causing fear garners votes. If you don't believe this Google: "Hitler Jews" and go from there.

Howard took this path because he was doing what conservatives do.

Labour followed on and seem to be trying to be even nastier.

This is an absolute disgrace, so shameful that  no-one should ever vote labor again until the party discovers its conscience again

Oh, yes, I am still a leftie, just one who thinks for himself.

Finally, for now, The criminals are, of course, the people smugglers. The victims are the boat people.

Punishing the victim makes about as much sense as deterring a rapist by constantly violating the woman he raped.

We have mandatory detention for asylum seekers and your leftist article does not match the detention centre stats for 2008.
About 500 people in detention in 2008 and that includes visa overstayers who cannot claim asylum.
The leftists ignore the facts and pluck any old number from their asses
http://www.immi.gov.au/managing-australias-borders/detention/_pdf/immigration-de...

The leftist will claim most of them are found to be genuine refugees yet they contradict themselves when posting articles-
Quote:
In 2007-08 3978 claims for asylum were rceived and 1930 of these were approved

Some leftists claim 98% are refugees yet your cited article puts the figure at 48%.

I expect the dim witted leftists to ignore the governments statistics.

"Data relating to the immigration detention population is dynamic and there can be delays in transmission of information from the department's immigration detention network operations.

Variations in figures between this report and previous issues can occur. Due to these issues, data from the current financial year should always be considered provisional."

The majority of boat people are granted refugee status.

(And, ... back in 1999, 97% of applicants from Iraq and 93% of applicants from Afghanistan, seeking asylum without valid visas,  were recognised as genuine refugees.)

The article your fellow leftist posted puts the figure at 48% accepted as refugees, that is less than half.

Can the leftists make up their mind or do they just pick a number that sounds good?

Those in detention also include visa overstayers who cannot claim asylum.

Watch it?  God no.

Howver, if pressed they will imply they watched it, by way of dropping a few words like "hateful" "bigoted" etc etc.  You know the leftist script.

Convenient to ignore Gillard's Malaysia swap, Timor lie.

Was she exploiting boat people as well? Undecided

The senate won't pass Abbott's intention on boat people but he'll call for a double dissolution and that will be the end of the treacherous Greens and most of the Labor clowns who are fiddling while Gillard twists and turns on her axle of lies.

You're mixing up boat people with those who arrive by plane.

Nobody has ever said that the majority of visa overstayers (arriving by plane) are granted refugee status.  Quite the opposite: those people are illegal immigrants.

Boat people, however, are legal asylum seekers and the majority of them are most certainly granted refugee status.

It's not.

"Australia is one of the most urbanised countries in the world and significant population growth is already leading to a range of pressures in many cities. This is also the case across developing and advanced economies and includes public services, infrastructure, housing, energy, food and water supplies, and, under current policy, Australia is faced with significant population growth in the foreseeable future."

Okay, here is my take again:

First this forum is so vast and lively you cannot cover every thread or post.

I will look at any thread that interests me. I will decide when that is. I will, of course, follow more closely those threads I initiate, and it looks as though a few others might comment as well.

If you want a reply from me, then try to be polite. Name calling and mudslinging does nothing to me (remember I was a journo, then a union advocate). All it does is reflect on the caller and the slinger.

With no exception I will not respond to anybody who disses me. That means it is almost a certainty the Baronvonroot, rot, or rort will ever hear from me again.

For those who have complimented me and my work thanks so much Take this as a timeless thank you from the heart if I sometimes miss you.

I join these forums because it is fun and to give people a laugh.

Most importantly, I contribute my views in the hope that every so often someone reads my stuff and says: "I'd never thought of that before, maybe this guy has something there. I'll have to give that further consider".

There are always some whose minds cannot be opened with an atom bomb. I used to try debating with them, but it is a time waster. Now I simply shake my head in wonder and move on to greener pastures.

PoliticalPuppet says: You wouldnt expect the media to focus on the facts would you peter haha.

PP. I think there was a day last year when one newspaper focused on the facts. It was only briefly, in error, and will never happen again. And an apology was never printed.

Newspapers exist to make a profit. Therefore they have to concentrate not on the public interest (ie news which people may need to know) but on public curiosity.

More often than not, they may simply twist the truth to fit their agenda.

Say two elderly sisters got so excited with a win  on the geegees, one of them fell over and skinned her knee.

Next day the heading would read:

GRANNY GORED IN RACE RIOT!

Don't forget the government and the opposition keep the asylum seeker issue alive and kicking along on a daily basis. It keeps our minds off more important things, like what the government is NOT doing for us.

Australia has no issue with asylum seekers, we have the room for many more.

Oh yes, poor Aussies will miss out on housing because of them, I forgot that walnut.

No they won't, poor Aussies were never going to get housing in the first place so nothing is being missed out on. The asylum seekers are taking nothing of yours because you were never going to get it.

Keep your eyes and ears open or you'll miss their dirty little deeds.

The poms steal a country from a group of people and then hand it to the Jewish people to salve their guilt after ww2 and now we are wondering why the original inhabitants are a tad ticked off.
British colonialism and the poms old habit of thinking they owned the world and every person on it is what created the problem in Palestine.
I have no problem with Israel remaining where it is  but the Jewish people chose to occupy stolen land handed to them by a colonial power so they have to put up with the consequences.

Shalom Avran,

Of course you must be careful who you allow into this beautiful country. The question is how do you do that?

If someone arrives and is considered suspicious, then we have every right to hold him while an investigation is conducted.

But there should be a time limit to this. If once that limit is reached and nothing is found, the authorities should be able to lodge an appeal, but only once.

if they cannot show that there is reasonable hope that during the extended period reliable information can be obtained, then the appeal should be disallowed.

The information could be nothing more than : "We have contacted the Mossad and are awaiting a reply"

Under the current Australian system someone could held in custody forever. They seem to have no rights at all. All their hope of a new life in a new country are dashed.

Some detainees are children and teenagers. Most of them have undergone horrendous experiences, which is why they risk their life to get here.

I say: Spot on adel and remember I am Jewish and proud of i. I am also proud of Israel, but not everything she does.

There were huge differences among the Jews in 1947 - ranging from peacemakers to the murderous Stern Gang. The peacemakers tried to persuade the Arabs they had nothing to fear and could claim full citizenship.

But the Nazi-loving Mufti of Jerusalem was in their ear telling them Jews were animals and flee for your life.

Any Arabs who were wavering were surely convinced by the 1948 massacre of Deir Yassin where 107 Arabs were murdered. From that moment on the Palestinian  "situation" became inevitable.

Even worse, other Arab states threw the Palestinians into refugee camps and left them there. Assimilating your own seldom makes a headline.

Winston Churchill said that "jaw-jaw is better than war-war".

No matter how long it takes, the two parties MUST sit down together and try to find a solution that can endure. That means the Arabs should pressure the Palestinians and the USA must pressure the Israelis.

Sure it is hard to sit down with someone whose first principle is to destroy you. But if you don't that destruction may become inevitable.

Peter -- yes I agree that you must be fair and honest to people's who come as refugees.

I think Australia is difficult country to come into,, I has many questions on my Sydney airport arrive much more than when I goes to united states airport,
What is my studies, has I serve national service what is my unit where is this service etc,
None of this asks in new York,

Peter-- I think is important to be care on who comes to Australia you are very lucky to live far from trouble problems and with care you keep problems away,

Yes process peoples fair and with honest but also be strong in beliefs like we do

You has more fortune than Israel has because we are not so far away, we has terror next to us

Be happy you has nice country but be care who comes and brings problems too

I have no problem with Israel remaining where it is  but the Jewish people chose to occupy stolen land handed to them by a colonial power so they have to put up with the consequences."

I am same opinions.
I want peace in Israel and am happy to have gaza and some Samaria to Palestinians too,

Some behaviours of orthodox Jewish is bad and still cause the tension,,

This I do not support, I support 2 state solutions but they must stop for rockets into Israel.
They must stop.

But you know from my experiences you must be care on who is coming to Australia,
Suspect terrorist also hides with refugees,, we know this as we has this problem too,,
Israeli army has to enter refugee camps to capture terror suspects in there hiding,,

So be care,, with the refugee comes the terrorist too,

I saw those terrorists on Team America last night. They were hilarious.

And you of course will hope they are the only terrorists you ever see eh.

Avram, you are a treasure.  No matter your age you are wise beyond your years. In the words of the Irish poem:

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

And an Irish toast:

As you slide down the banisters of life, may the splinters always point the wrong way

I agree with you about the Palestinian attacks, they must stop. But so must Israeli retaliation which has cost far more lives.

Sometime the leader of at least one of these two nations has to decide to stop retaliating, no matter what the temptation. Hard to do.

Most people in the world want peace above all else. That includes both Israelis and Palestinians.

If Israelis stop retaliating, then surely the peaceable Palestinians will eventually believe that Jews are not bad people and to live alongside them could be both safe and pleasurable.

Part of the problem here is that people confuse two terms and use them as if they are identical.

A "refugee" will come to Australia under an organised refugee programme.

An "asylum seeker" is someone who comes on a boat or a plane seeking protection from a bad situation.

A high proportion of people in both categories find it difficult to find a job.

Unless you believe that 85% of the people who battled to get here are lazy, slothful, don't want to work and are happy to live just above the poverty line, then there has to be a different answer.

To suggest that 85% of those people, who showed enormous courage but don't have the guts to battle to find a job is just ridiculous.

The problems could be:

1) Prejudice amongst employers
2) Lack of marketable skills
3) Difficulty with English
4) Shyness
5) No knowing how to prepare a CV
6) Difficulty in job interviews

The list is endless. All can be resolved, in time and using patience.

Finally the boat people problem doesn't belong to Malaysia, Timor, the Pacific, Nauru NZ.

It is our problem and we are the only people who can, and should, fix it.

Hard, not hard at all.
It's impossible actually.
What the Palestinian and Hezbollah terrorists do is not just a 'principle', it's a reality they practice or try to practice on a regular basis.
Even Abbas, the PLO chairman got himself as popular as a one armed leper leper appearing on a Paris catwalk found himself on the Hamas craplist, by having the temerity in asking Hamas to stop firing rockets into Sderot because the rockets were landing on the wrong side of the Gaza walls maiming Palestinians.
Hamas didn't care for any of that, because they blamed the IDF for the deaths and injuries anyway.
They hate, and want to kill Jews.
It's really that simple.
The problem isn't how to negotiate with such people because one cannot negotiate with them.
The problem is what the Israeli's are doing to stop the terrorists, and the ongoing failed attempts at appeasement.
Because appeasement has a zero blot zero zero zero success rate throughout history.
In short, it's never worked.
Ever.
The recent saga, and swap of kidnapped SGT Gilad for a 1000 convicted Palestinian criminals will only backfire one day.
It's not as if Israel got any brownie points from the Left anywhere on the planet for releasing these criminals.
Because Hamas got back overnight the missile and mortar crews they lost in 2006 and then some.
And when they have stored enough rockets and other ammo, it's game on.
And if the Leftists dream that these terrorists will stop if and when the Palestinians get their promised State, keep dreaming.
Because the Palestinians will still hate the Jews as much today as they did yesterday, and they will continue to attack in the time honoured fashion, the UN will do nothing in the time honoured fashion, and Israel will respond in the time honoured fashion with their ongoing half hearted measures trying to be all things to all people and satisfying none.
This will drag on long after all on Ozpolitics today are dead and buried.

The Sri Lankan government has already warned our government last year of the very real possibility of Tamil Tiger terrorists escaping justice in Sri Lanka, heading for Christmas Island on a smugglers boat and our government has done nothing.
Naturally, they arrive with no passports or identification.
Why?
They have something to hide.

The leftist government did not include Pensions with centrelink payments in their settlement report, i think they are trying to hide the numbers of country shopping economic migrants who end up on the pension.

Bad backs dont get an easy pension these days so these economic migrants claim mental illness was caused by Australians and sue for compensation.
Quote:
Refugees set to sue Australian government for millions  for psychological damage

Mrs Yousefis husband sewed his lips together and attempted suicide several times while in detention
In 2008 Mr Yousefi was awarded damages of more than $800,000.
Mrs Yousefi was quoted in 2008 as saying her husband would never work again and would require medical care for the rest of his life

Dr Steel said the basis for most lawsuits was psychiatric harm caused by trauma experienced in detention centres, including riots, self harm, etc

I would say all those who plan on lawsuits for psychological damage will never work again and that is a large number of them.

The dim witted leftards actually believe this cock and bull story that people are traumatised in our detention centres that give people free internet, free mobile phones along with free cigarettes while they also have large screen tv to watch.
The leftards are happy in paying outageous amounts in compensation to these economic migrants.

Iran will execute you for apostasy, blasphemy, being an enemy of god,no homosexuals in Iran they hang you for that, they will stone you to death for adultery yet none of this caused any emotional harm to these people who were suddenly traumatised by the handouts from Australian taxpayers and desire compensation.
Amnesty has an article about human rights abuses in Iran, none of this contributed to their mental illness because the Iranian government will not compensate them yet if they claim Australia was the cause of their mental illness the leftards give them compensation.

83.5% of all boat people are still claiming centrelink benefits up to 5 years after arriving in Australia

There were 4 boat people in detention when labor dismantled a policy that stopped the boats.

Yes, it's our free internet / free pay TV / free gym membership that's traumatising them.
It wasn't the months of being in an Iranian prison having bamboo spikes poked up the fingernails that did it.
This is a rort, and the gullable Labor government is falling for it hook line and sinker.

For those expressing interest in my ancestry, thanks.

I am a mixture of Polish, German, Irish and gin and tonic. There cannot be much Irish in me because I just can't take  that sticky black tar they put in a glass and call it a drink.

But the feisty personality some people allege I have is probably my Irish side coming out. As with many Irish sides this one comes out the day before the game and has to go back under the stand again. By the time the other side is ready to play, the Irishmen has been distracted by the nearest pub.

I love the Irish, they are the world's most beautiful people open, hospitable and very heart warming. They'll give you the shirt off their back and then offer you their back as well.

In the old days when Athletic Park was the HQ of Wellington rugby I watched a test between Ireland and NZ. It was not a bad day, but the rugby was foul, plain boring as the game often was in those days.

Of course the Irish had their supporters' group, the Even More Barmy Army and shortly before kickoff they were followed by the Barmiest Army Of All. These coves were so drunk they kept complaining that their seats needed to be tied down to stop them rolling.

The moment the game began they fell asleep and snored happily throughout the match. I suspect they were the only fans that day who enjoyed themselves.

Yes there were only 4 boat people in detention when Labor dismantled the policy that stopped the boats which has resulted in a billion dollar debacle.

We have mandatory detention for asylum seekers so why does this number you never cite any evidence for contradict detention centre stats?

Thanks Baron. So what did I mean when I said the Palestian rockets must stop?

Do you think the Palestinians will listen to you or their Imam who preaches "Itbach el Yahud"?

It is the Islamic ideology that drives this conflct between the Arab-jew and  until you confront this ideology the problem will not go away.

The leftards also think Islam can be reformed, the persecution of Ahmadi muslims for a few reforms should be evidence Islam cannot reform.

The leftists think Islam should be appeased.

Baron you are such a big person that you can't even admit you got something wrong.

You have no idea what other people think. Half the time you don't even know what you think. The other half, most of it spent here, you show no ability to think at all.

Goodbye and good luck. Wink

"13 Times More Illegal Immigrants Arrive By Plane Than By Boat"

"Figures obtained by The Advertiser from the Immigration Department and under the Freedom of Information Act show plane arrivals from the United States (5080) and Britain (3610) are near the top of the list of those in the country without a valid visa. China (8070), and Malaysia (4200) round out the top four."

Why don't you do some research and then come back here and let us all know?

I expect the figure will be fairly low.

Source-http://www.news.com.au/national/refugees-set-to-sue-australia-for-millions-for-p...

Amnesty has an article about human rights abuses in Iran, none of this contributed to their mental illness because the Iranian government will not compensate them yet if they claim Australia was the cause of their mental illness the leftards give them compensation.
http://www.amnesty.org/library/asset/MDE13/012/2009/en/6355979b-f779-11dd-8fd7-f...

The dim witted leftards actually believe our detention centres are the cause of the mental health problems for these country shopping economic migrants and these mental problems has nothing to do with the barbaric regimes like the Taliban and the Mad Mullahs they fled from.

83.5% of all boat people are still claiming centrelink benefits up to 5 years after arriving in Australia

There were 4 boat people in detention when labor dismantled a policy that stopped the boats.

Only 4 boat people in detention?

Not in any other mainland detention centres bar Villawood.
Why?
The Howard government closed down detention centres on the mainland.
Those four referred to above were the last of the boat people held on Nauru.
When a border protection policy functions, a good government can close down excess detention centres.
Pity, we don't have one of those anymore.
This government can't open enough of them.

All those taxpayer funded appeals he got his lawyers to launch when he kept receiving the wrong determination from the Department on his asylum status meant he had to stay in detention longer.
So he thought by sewing his lips together and attempting suicide he could force the Department into changing it's mind.

A visa overstayer cannot claim asylum the migration act is very clear with this.

A visa overstayer is not an asylum seeker they cannot claim asylum they get deported if they dont leave voluntarily.
The leftards include visa overstayers who will be deported and cannot claim centrelink in their numbers of air arrivals.
It is pathetic and dishonest of the leftards to say a visa overstayer who arrived by plane is somehow comparable to boat person who chucks their passport away before claiming asylum.

Your other link
In 2007-08 ,3987 claims for asylum were received and 1930 of these were approved.
That is less than half (48%) who arrive by plane with a valid visa and passport who are considered genuine refugees.

Yet these leftards think those who come by boat are all genuine.
3200 out of 3237 boat people surveyed said they disposed of their passports before coming to Australia by boat after flying into Indonesia.

Plane arrivals-Have passport and valid visa yet Less than half are refugees by your link!
Boat arrivals- chuck away your passport like almost 99% of them do and the useful idiots from the left will say you are genuine.

I think it is pathetic how the leftards try to add visa overstayers who arrive by plane with a visa and passport who cannot claim asylum or centrelink or dept of housing or medicare to the numbers of asylum seekers arriving by plane.

They are Iranian and traumatised from Australians  it had nothing to do with the Islamic regime according to the dim witted leftards.

Muslims who flee from the Political,Social,Economic and moral failures of Islamic countries still come with Islam because they fail to recognise it is Islam that explains these Political,Social,Economic and moral failures

This is very good point.

You know when Muslims run from the terror,, is because of failures of Islam and the Muslim policy of oppression to the women.

But they come to the west country and then also wish to still bring the Islam too, for me is crazy,,

I also say i do know some Arab Muslims that has live near in Tel Aviv

He could be out with a pox infected $5 dollar hooker we know misyar nikah (temporary marriage) are alllowed for sunni muslims in these times of lust.
We know it is Australian law that tries to prevent polygamy yet it is OK  in Islam.

Islamophobia is a bullshit word invented by muslims to demonise critics of Islam to silence them because Islam is a fascist ideology that usually beheads critics of Islam, they have a blasphemy law to justify killing critics of Islam.

Islamophobia is a word that is technically and logically incorrect which is what you expect to get from Islam.

Quote:
Phobia
(n)a persistent, irrational fear of a specific object ,activity,or situation that leads to a compelling desire to avoid it
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Phobia

Islam is a ideology,a set of beliefs it is a fallacy that one can be phobic of an ideology.

Avram,

I don't think you're on sound ground when you say that Muslims fleeing terror is necessarily a fault of their religion.

Saddam Hussein, for example, ran a largely secular state.

See Somalia, as the stonings,, see Saudi and the women not allowed anything,, see afghanistan and taliban beatings of women and not allow to study and have job etc,,

Please this is religion of Islam which makes them must leave yes?

I know as peoples have said that there is not so good Jewish actions before on women and Orthodox problems,, i know this but is not my argument this time,

Avram, unfortunately I'm not sufficiently knowledgeable on the Islamic faith to say anything for sure.

The problem with both the Bible and the Koran is that frequently they can contradictory. That enables people to cherry pick the things they like and ignore those they don't.

The Bible for example preaches both mercy and revenge (an eye for an eye etc)

I am sure many people flee sharia law, The question is whether such law really reflects the Koran or is just a convenient interpretation of it.

But a state based on literal Christian teachings would also be uncomfortable.

Leviticus would refuse me the right to eat a rare steak or to trim my beard. It would also require me to never plant different seeds in the same garden.

If you are not sufficiently knowledgeable about Islam what makes you think you are qualified to give an opinion is it because you are a leftist?

Muslims will tell you there  are no contradictions in the Quran, the fine print says it cannot be from Allah if there are contradictions.
http://quran.com/4/82

Muslims are not allowed to cherry pick the Quran is very specific on this-
http://quran.com/2/85

Islam does preach an eye for an eye
http://quran.com/5/45

Read all english translations as some words dont translate well from Arabic.

Sharia law is gods laws, muslims will say gods laws as told by Mohammad then made into a book about 23 years after Mohammad died are superior to man made laws.

The Quran calls muslims who dont take Islam seriously "munafiq" which means hypocrite.

The christians accept separation of church and state so look at the mad mullah's who run Iran and tell yourself they are similar religions.

The christians stopped killing heretics a smacking long time ago,Islam still kills people for apostasy, blasphemy, adultery, homosexuality.
