Avram, unfortunately I'm not sufficiently knowledgeable on the Islamic faith to say anything for sure.
The problem with both the Bible and the Koran is that frequently they can contradictory. That enables people to cherry pick the things they like and ignore those they don't.
The Bible for example preaches both mercy and revenge (an eye for an eye etc)
I am sure many people flee sharia law, The question is whether such law really reflects the Koran or is just a convenient interpretation of it.
But a state based on literal Christian teachings would also be uncomfortable.
Leviticus would refuse me the right to eat a rare steak or to trim my beard. It would also require me to never plant different seeds in the same garden.
If you are not sufficiently knowledgeable about Islam what makes you think you are qualified to give an opinion is it because you are a leftist?
Muslims will tell you there are no contradictions in the Quran, the fine print says it cannot be from Allah if there are contradictions.
http://quran.com/4/82Muslims are not allowed to cherry pick the Quran is very specific on this-
http://quran.com/2/85Islam does preach an eye for an eye
http://quran.com/5/45Read all english translations as some words dont translate well from Arabic.
Sharia law is gods laws, muslims will say gods laws as told by Mohammad then made into a book about 23 years after Mohammad died are superior to man made laws.
The Quran calls muslims who dont take Islam seriously "munafiq" which means hypocrite.
The christians accept separation of church and state so look at the mad mullah's who run Iran and tell yourself they are similar religions.
The christians stopped killing heretics a smacking long time ago,Islam still kills people for apostasy, blasphemy, adultery, homosexuality.
