THIS is what i am referring to - the fact that labor has some significant problems in its preselection process. they select people on the basis of their service to the party or union movement and not on their suitability or moral character. this is how Thomson was preselected again for his electorate even afer the allegations of fraud were aired. Labor doesnt seem to care too much about moral or ethical failings. there is no other conclusion.

Ah I see. So no Labor supporter can have any opinion on anything faintly resembling a moral question because some sleazebag got through preselection. This is because all members are complicit in the sleazebag's actions given that they chose him in preselection. Therefore all Labor party supporters are pedos or pedo supporters.

its really quite a simple argument. if you want to make claims about moral failings of liberals then you need to accept that we wil make arguments about labor moral failings. the problem is that labor has a great deal MORE to lose in the debate. so dont start it. stick to areas of policy and performance where at least you have a chance.
