Coming from the guy who believes in fairy tales, talk about dumb.
A 2 year old who believes in the bogey man has as much legitimacy as you.

Nail,
Don't be so hard on Longweekend.

Even Richard Dawkins admitted that there was a small
chance that an invisible man was watching every thing you do.

If I had not bought a house though - the last 4 years I would have paid rent straight into a landlord's pocket and tell me Lastnail - what would I have to show for it??

I'd own nothing still wouldn't I?

How is that good?  Shocked

Jees everyone who runs a business and rents out a shop or office musn't have much to show for it either Cheesy LOL

Hicks you need to take some risks in your life and run a business instead of being a wage slave. You don't become successful like Steve Jobs or Bill Gates by sucking up to the boss all of your life Wink

Actually Andrei.
I pay RENT and I save more towards a house
than I would if I was making Home Loan Repayments.

...and I still have more than just $3 dollars to spend at the end of the week.

So - I rent for 10 years and then buy a house and own it in a year.

As my grand-pappy used to say: If you ain't got the money for it - don't buy it.
Thats where all the Economic trouble started - too much money 'borrowed' - and look at what it has cost Huh

You miss the point. your rent might be less than mortage repayments but at the end of your ten years of rent you ahve nothing beyond next weeks rent to pay while the mortgagee now owns half his house and his equity has risen from $50,000 to $300,000.  and you dont think that the later is a better outcome?

So what happens if you lose your job in that 10 years ? When they kick you out you are lucky to get back any of what you have paid and the you are out on your arse Sad There is no such thing as long term job security anymore.

Why not just wait till it crashes and buy in at the right price rather than follow all of the lemmings which is what you advocate Sad
