KONY 2012 Director Detained, Org. Tied to Antigay Groups

March 16, 2012

It's been discovered that Jason Russell, the director of the viral video on Ugandan war lord Joseph Kony, may have connections to rightwing antigay organizations. But that's not his only problem —he was detained Thursday by San Diego police for masturbating in public.

He was arrested Thursday after allegedly vandalizing several cars and masturbating in the streets while possibly being under the influence of alcohol or drugs

Okay 10 o'clock were pretty convincing. I find the hristian angle alarming (not to mention Russels melt down)  Grin Grin Grin

I don't care Kony isn't in Uganda, he's a target wherever. Obviously a problem is having an open ended fund raiser. There should be a plan and a cut off point. And clearly there are problems with invisible children.

I think the answer now is for everybody to pay me. My plan is to hire Somali mercenaries who I've been  reliably informed, work for $10 a day and are totally reliable. I'll appoint Maori NCO's and a back up force of greens under the command of Peter Cundall (on life support).

We'll do a sweep through Africa taking care of the bad guys and missionaries. We'll make sure no child goes without ice-cream or brussels sprouts.

How's that for starters?

Ever heard about the one where the Leader of Uganda would like some ore U.N. Troops there?

He replied, "yeah man the last batch was delicious!"

Trite I know, but this Kony thing has been the beat up of the century, it is not like it's old news about the plight of Uganda but if someone is looking for the U.N. to act then just check their track record on preventing genocide.

Kony is not a beat up. He is a real criminal who needs to be brought to justice. I haven't come across anyone who doesn't accept that. The question I'd like answered is how?

Huh? No, it's not questionable as to him still operating. And the LRA has crossed my radar repeatedly over the years. For years I wonder why he is allowed to get away with it. Of course I'm going to support anybody who wants more people to ask the same question.

Having spent some time in a number of African countries, I know how he gets off with it. Some African countries are making an effort to improve the levels of corruption. Ghana and Tanzania are two countries I would definitely visit again.  Kenya is not bad either.

I will never go back to Guinea or Mali. I could tell you a few very interesting stories. The best chance of being left alone is for a company is to make regular donations to the police. Christmas time was the customary time in this particular example.

Cars with Europeans are generally targetted at police checkpoints, while local cars are allowed to pass with no checks for insurance or other documentation. The slightest clerical error will require some money to change hands. A colleague was stopped on one occasion for running a red light (he didn't). He was held up and harassed for 2 hours because of this trumped up charge, A week later, a company representative visited the  police chief. He expressed his displeasure at the way his employee had been treated. The head of police was apologetic. He appreciated the way in which the company assisted the police (with their annual donations) The police chief arranged a line-up for my colleague. He identified the police officer straight away. He was just leaving the building when he heard the first blow being delivered.

That's just one of my personal experiences. I also heard that it's easy to pay for somebody to get killed. You just pay the police the going rate.

Many countries in Africa are still lawless. Unspeakable things happen. If they capture Kony, maybe it will be a start.

Of course you haven’t met someone who doesn’t agree.
It’s a social trend, there are very basic studies which show 90% of a crowd will follow or do something for no reason other than that other people are doing it.
It’s not a choice it’s actually a forced reaction for most people.
People don’t want to be left out or seem weird, goes back to very simple evolutionary principles.

The people who take a step back and actually evaluate the situation properly and review the facts from both sides of the story will probably not support kony 2012.

Quote:
Conformity is changing one's behavior because of perceived pressure. Solomon Asch conducted a famous study on conformity in which seven subjects were asked to judge line lengths. Six of the subjects were confederates of the experimenter and gave wrong responses, and on many occasions, the real subject conformed and also gave wrong responses.

In Stanley Milgram's well-known study of obedience to authority, subjects were told that they were assisting in a learning experiment and were ordered to give other subjects (confederates of the experimenter) shocks when they made an incorrect response. Although shocks were not actually given, the real subjects were told that shock intensity increased as the experiment progressed. To the amazement of all, all the subjects (supposedly assisting the experimenter), even though they became agitated, continued to obey the experimenter and to administer shocks even at shock intensities they believed to be 300 volts. At that time, the supposed learner pounded the wall as though in pain, and 22% of the subjects refused to continue. Others, however, did continue and increased the intensity to 450 volts.

Reading your other posts you seem to accept Kony is a criminal who should be brought to justice.

So you think he should be ignored, allowed to continue his path in relative obscurity?

Yeah, stopping him is not going to help anything, will waste a lot of money, and probably have a lot of collateral damage.
I support stopping the causes of people like him.

Is there anyone on the ICCs most wanted list that you think should be brought to justice?

Not really,
we can remove all of them and there will be another 100 of them the next day.
Prevention is better than cure.
