An interesting observation is this - the pundits criticise America for not doing something more to help. But when America does - the criticise it's too much and some will say it's still not enough.

We do have the UN who was supposed to take over the role of big brother but is it doing a good job?

Totally true Macca.
My uni lecturer on US Foreign Policy said the same years ago.

America takes action in Somalia and Iraq and its criticised.
Then when America doesn't take action in Rwanda and leaves it to the UN - they are criticised for not doing it.

Why do people on the Left of politics hate America so much?
They absolutely hate this country with a passion.

Is it envy?
Jealousy?
Rage?

(1) How would you make that distribution?

(2) You can't. It gets down to a security risk. If we can't trust you then we'll kill you before you might kill us. That's the reality. The UN is supposed to make this call but they have been ineffective

1. Through a non corrupt government and destroying the privitaized banking system. There are a million small points to this process but if you had enough people you could work it all out fairly easily.

2. Security has never been an issue, if it was you would see more investment in defence not offence.
The UN makes whatever call the US fat cats say.

That justifies every country attacking each other including attacks on the USA and its interests.
Its just a slippery slope to anarchy and also justifies attacks such as 9/11, the Cole etc.

This is a great point
The common reasoning from people like maqqa is that 911 was justification for the Iraq war (this also applies to many other wars and situations involving the US)
Yet the US was attacking Iraq and other Middle Eastern nation’s decades before 911, so was 911 not than justified.
Same thing is it not?

What about when they do this ??

Quote:
We were fortunate to secure one of the final 2-year leases on an EV1 - the first modern production full-featured EV by GM. We took delivery of this car on 27.November.2001, and it had 11,743 miles on the clock. On 25.November.2003, we were forced to return the car to GM. This is the car that Kim and I fought over. Our EV1 commuted 40 miles every day on about 10 kWh of electricity from the socket ($1 of electricity - if we actually purchased our electricity. See my solar page). Generally, this car was charged in our garage for about 1.5 hrs/day, during off-peak hours, while we slept. When our lease ran out, we had no choice but to give it up. GM would not extend the leases nor allow the vehicles to be purchased for any price. As far as I know, this is the only time in history that perfectly good cars were taken off the road by the manufacturer - especially painful when these are among the very few cars that are part of the solution. Of the 1150 EV1s that were ever made, there are likely just two or three still driving around. The last private lease expired in August of 2004.
