It's a shame that we have a new Julia, because she's a liar. She said that the reports in the papers yesterday about Bob Carr being approached about a Senate Vacancy left by Make Arbib. Well, it turns out that the papers WERE correct, and that Carr indeed was approached. This real and new Julia, in a so-called new era/phase/whatever, is a change, but a change for the worse. I want back the previous Julia, that is, the one who epitomised truth, integrity, honour and honesty.
You idiot. The ALP NSW secretary and Sam Dastyari approached Bob Carr, not Gillard. Sam then contacted Gillard to tell her Bob was available. Gillard declined the offer.
In other words, for the dunderheads, Sam was trying to broker a deal to get Bob into the Senate - one he obviously thought was pretty good. He got knocked back.
If you want to hear it from Carr himself:
Quote:Mr Carr learned the deal had been rejected as he prepared to travel to Canberra on Tuesday morning to announce the plan.
He said last night that "party officials" had talked to him about the possibility of filling the Senate vacancy and being considered for the foreign ministry post.
"Prime Minister Gillard had definitely not made any offer about the foreign affairs ministry nor had any one on her behalf," he said.
