and each of the schools is AUTONOMOUS in operation- exactly like a private school. in other words, the methodology of private schools is what is succeeding, not who owns them.

Autonomous yes, but still a public school which does not discriminate against parents who could not afford to send their kids to a private school in Australia !!

The setup is totally different but the results speak for themselves unlike the private school ripoffs in this country designed to divide the country and offer education only to the elite who can afford it. That can never be successful and it isn't !!

the complete point, you drone, is that by being autonomous they can actrually provide a proper education without being sullied by idiotic education department rules and education union left-wing bias. Just as the experiment found in australia, autonomous schools give greater results than controlled public ones.

So why not get rid of the private school ripoffs and run the system exactly like Finland ??

I agree but AUST will need to increase the GST to 23% to be able to afford it. Shocked Shocked

Are you in favour of that part of the equation as well? Sad Sad

Just compare the results between your private education ripoffs and the public system in Finland Wink

I think my private education probably sh*ts all over the Finnish public system.

I quite like the current private school system.

I went to private school and am glad that I did.

You couldn't have, Andre. You're working class, mate.

You've struggled all your life.

You can be working class and attend a fee paying school.
They are not mutually exclusive.

So what makes you working class, mate?

getting every child a good education is like canute telling the tide not to come in. you cant educate retards very much.

people put too much emphasis on the perceived 'quality' of the school and not the  quality of the kids in it. selection bias reaks big time in these public vs private school debates.

Bobby I may have the occasional weakness, lack of vocabulary is certainly not one of them.

I have added some value on here.

For a start if it weren't for me, you would have carried on in life thinking a company can only ever have one Vice President!
It took you about 2 days and various people to point out to you after me, before you understood you were totally out of touch.

Why should ALL children not receive tax subsidies for their schooling?
Why would you not give it to children who go to private schools?

Are you therefore not discriminating against those of us who pay to go to school?

Yet again, your points seems to be one based upon anger and envy as usual.

Why should schools be run as a business enterprise and then expect corporate welfare from the tax payer ??

And no, my posts are based on the successful education system in Finland where there are NO private school ripoff merchants stealing away money from the public education system !! Just compare the results between your private education ripoffs and the public system in Finland Wink

FINLAND: a country where EVERY school is run along the lines of a private school and where the supposed superior results of this experiment are not even measured.

Seems you are saying that ALL schools should be run along the private school model, correct?

Look I also think a lot has to do with the individual as well.

Some of the guys in my school - there were some of the dumbest guys you'd ever meet.

In my workplace there is a mix of people from the private and public system - given its hard to tell sometimes which went to which - it shows if you have the aptitude and ability you succeed.

Look at my father. Public school, council estate, poor childhood and became a Captain of an airline.

It's about personal goal setting.

NO simply because the private schools here also are failing students and they discriminate against students from low socio-economic backgrounds. Plus I believe the Fins don't wear and waste money on clown uniforms. I expect you will have difficulty understanding the obvious differences between the two systems !!
