What Long forgot to mention is the cost of producing oil from difficult sources.

Like how France entered peak Uranium years ago, you don't see them sourcing uranium from ocean water.

It is not economically logical.

I grant that I did assume you had the ability to read ANN comprehend. Clearly I overestimnated your intellect.

but for the rest of you....  they are already able to retrieve shale oil now at a viable cost.

Any chance of quantitating your measure of 'viable' please.

is this in relation to future peak oil prices, or relative to current oil prices?

try reading the article. 'viable' is defined as being able to sell it in the marketplace. I know that as a communist/green the market concepts elude you so get a grownup (with an education) to explain it to you.

So in a peak oil world where oil prices will reduce productivity ... and likely force a depression.

And in a world at war due to human caused climate change  ~ and the have nots pointing the fingers at the industrial western nations and the terror organisations tapping into this anger.

Thanks for clearing that up long.

Woody, The Australian Greens would decimate the Australian coal and steel industry.

They have admitted such.

That's irresponsible.

It is not the Greens aim to decimate industries.

Australian Greens aim is to shift our economy towards being a sustainable economy.

As are the Global Greens aim to move the planet towards a sustainable position.

Rather than attack coal or steel, how about asking these industries themselves, are their activities and consequences of their activities sustainable, so to increase the living standards and health of all humans, and return our environment back to health.

As a person who likes to represent these industries, like to answer Hicks?

The Greens would cost Australia over 200,000 jobs in the coal indsutry under their current phasing plan - according to a recent economic survey in 2011.

They also would increase the petrol duty per litre.
Woody given you already pay over 40c per litre more than we do in the United States - what effect do you that would have on the everyday family with 2 cars??

Imagine running my SUV in Australia under the Greens plan? I would basically pay about $100 per week on petrol alone!!

The Greens show no reality to their economic plans on industry and none to the damage they would cause both industry and everyday families.

Then what about the oil and gas industry.

Is it sustainable in that it will increase the wealth of all humanity ~ increase food and fresh water security ~strengthen the health of the environment that supports human civilisation.

Are your industry's activities and consequences of these activities sustainable?

Could you supply a link to the survey since it will be interesting who backed this survey you quote.
