The Hawkesbury River used to flood every year around February. Windsor and surrounding areas were underwater. If you were up the hill in Freemans Reach, you could look out over a huge ocean. The area has been flooding since Green Hills was established in the late 1700s. It hasn't flooded here for years, but that's because they dammed Warragamba and they've now built a spillway there so they don't have to open the floodgates when the dam is too full. Take a look at the houses in McQuade Avenue at South Windsor to see how high the water used to get.
