I was originally dissapointed that Rudd was overthrown because it was unfair. However I never really rated him, he was a good opposition leader against a failing government but in power he was not able to covert good policy ideas into reality.

Gillard has never got a fair go and dosent look like she will I think she may have been OK but a bit weak for my liking on important policy where she tends to negotiate away a lot of the substance to minority interest groups.

Remember though it can always get worse we may have to face the prospect of Tony Abbott, now there is a disaster just waiting to happen.

you make me laugh dna.. you cant give a high five to either of the burks you voted in... yet you wont give Abbott a chance even though he was never even Deputy PM.. or even Deputy leader..

I think give the guy a chance we did give gillard a chance. but the BIG LIE was her main downfall..everyone was gobsmacked except you..

she lost respect and credibility all at the same time.. since then she has shown how far she wil go to hang onto her leadership... a steady ship is not her problem..Slipper.. Jenkins.. hmmmmmm anything to remain there..

I too am shocked that she is nowhere near the person I thought she was.. I didnt like her that much but to see what feet of clay she has has astounded me..shes tough and obviously doesnt give a fig what people think of her.... but is that really how we want a PM to be?????

I dont think we have to like them... but we do need a certain amount of respect..she can be tough but at what cost??? someone elses job...

I dont call that tough I call that taking advantage of your position.a cowards way out.

Have to agree there. An abject failure as Health Minister so I cannot understand why anyone would think he would somehow be different as PM.

Hahaha

In comparison to the dross at the head of the ALP now, he was positively a genius.

I didn't mind Rudd as a leader - he is head and shoulders above Gillard who is so out of her depth its not funny.

People have their rose coloured glasses well and truly on is the only answer I can come up with. If he were to get the leadership again, people would soon remember why it was they didn't like him to the point where the party ditched him.

More likely because Reagan is within living memory of many... FD Roosevelt is not... JFK, despite the hype and the circumstances, was only a definite maybe... Johnson? Vietname War, Nixon? Need I say more?... Ford? Who?... Carter? Well... There's that pesky Iran balls-up... George Bush 1... Forgettable... Clinton? Well we all know what a bunch of hypocritical, neo-puritanical prudes Americans are... George Bush 2... Singularly the biggest idiot with the most disastrous Presidency since Nixon... Obama - a sitting President anyway, with the jury out on what his final legacy will be.

Not sure if you know much history love but Ronald Reagan was the most popular President in US history.

His feat of being re-elected with 49 states out of 50 has never been equalled (or likely every will be).

As he said when elected "I tell ya, you ain't seen nuthin yet".

There were always very good reasons why that was the case.

You didn't give Gillard one day the campaign against her started well before the carbon tax.

I gaurantee that if elected I will give him more rope than your mob ever gave Julia.

Yes I do not think the big lie was in fact very big.

I was dissapointed that she made the commitment and also that she failed to keep her promise.

It's not even a real tax, not one person positing here will ever pay one cent of carbon tax.

Had Mr Howard done the same thing it would have hardly even rated a headline and certainly would not have still been pushed in the media 15 months later.

It's a nothing story which has been kept alive for political reasons.

You know he came within a couple of votes of winning Mondale's home state and winning every single state.

I went to the Reagan Library in CA last year and you know what?
You can pick up a licence plate for any of the 49 states for that year.
I have "CALIFORNIA - IS REAGAN COUNTRY"

Anyway I digress - my point goes back to Rudd.

People when under the leadership of poor, out of touch weak leaders revert to wanting to be back under when times were better.

This is true for Australia now and for the US.
