The current Liberal policy is to turn back 100% of the boats

Jesus if you had half a brain you would still be plankton.

THAT IS NOT THE POLICY.

You are probably right - Tony Abbott was probably lying when he committed to that position.

MORON  GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT  OR F/K OFF

OK when Tony said he was changing the policy and was going to turn back all the boats which part of all the boats did he not mean?

Your not trying to claim that it isn't what he said are you?

I'll turn back every boat, says Tony Abbott

TONY Abbott's plan to send back all asylum-seeker boats has drawn fire from Indonesia's police as well as the UN High Commissioner for Refugees as dangerous and in breach of international law.

The expressions of alarm came a day after The Age reported former Australian Defence Force chief retired admiral Chris Barrie saying it would be close to impossible as well as expensive to send all the boats back.

Yesterday, Indonesia's police questioned whether Mr Abbott's policy of using the navy to turn back asylum seeker boats contravenes international law, amid widespread disquiet in the country about the opposition's hardline position.

If Labor want the more expensive option of offshore processing then I do not understand why they don't just accept Tony Abbott's offer of Nauru and TPV's.....However turning the boats around will not work and put further lives at risk.....Neither side is covering themselves in glory over this issue to decide who is better at persecuting asylum seekers.....The solution is to take asylum seekers from detention centres in Indonesia and continue working to find and prosecute the people smugglers!!!

What this shows DNA is that the Liberal Faithful are so blind they cannot accept Tony Abbott is actually a fool masquerading as an idiot.....Turning the boats around is another populist position from the Mad Monk who has no idea what he will do if he ever slithers into office.....I guess the partisan still cannot believe Tony Abbott is that stupid to turn the boats around......He is!!!

Kindly outline the conditions under which it is safe to do so lolly. If you don't know then maybe you can ring a friend. Say... Phoney Tony?

Why should I or Abbott define it. At election maybe, but only if he feels like it.

This was the previous position - around the 20th of Jan 2012 Mr Abbott was clearly stating the new position and it was to
turn around all the boats
.

It does seem that this was a disaster for him - critisised by all - pointed out to be in breach of international Law and a danger to Australian lives.

By the 22nd the When it is safe to do so was again being stated.

He did get his hard line message out there though even if it was unrealistic he got the lowest common denominator vote onboard.

Use some common sense, eh?!?! When it is safe to do so would include circumstances such as where sabotage has not been attempted, where the vessel is in good condition, where the weather would make a return journey safe and not dangerous. Just a few examples of where it would be safe to do so.

You are absolutly correct but it is not what Mr Abbott was saying when he made his announcment. He was talking as tough and uncaring as he could.

The Libs have gone back to the previous position of when it is safe to do so.

Do you dream that the public will flock to Labor should the boats stop and Abbott is relying on this to get into office? Cheesy
Fear not, Labors record of incompetence, waste and mismanagement is longer than your arm, and Juliar fixing a problem of Labors own making won't reverse their fortunes I'm afraid.

Considering the chumps got themselves into the middle of the ocean, then they can find their way back again the same way eh if they turn around and head north.
And that's as safe as it gets.

How can it ever be safe when weather conditions can change in a matter of hours.....It is also Abbott's policy NOT to send asylum seekers to countries who have not signed the refugee convention which is why he will not support the Malaysian solution.....Indonesia has NOT signed the refugee convention so has that fact escaped your tiny mind.....Abbott is a populist fool who cares nothing about substance and hopes people will ignore his contradictions and hypocrisy so he can become PM at any cost....All Abbott is proposing is a future where he will tear everything apart and replace it with nothing accept the failure of the past.....The world has changed since we can persecute minorities and buy votes with tax cuts that erode the integrity of the budget....Australia cannot afford Tony Abbott!!!

A preoccupation with the future not only prevents us from seeing the present as it is but often prompts us to rearrange the past.
