Jewish Terrorist Has Jewish Fan Club
JERUSALEM -- A television interview with three teenage girls who professed to be members of a "Yigal Amir fan club" has prompted a storm of debate over whether there is widespread admiration among Israel's religious youth for Yitzhak Rabin's convicted assassin...
...Rabin's widow, Leah, said that nine months after her husband's murder, she fears Amir has a huge following.
The controversy follows a report broadcast on Israel Television's weekend magazine in which three 17-year-old girls from the Kiryat Gat area in southern Israel spoke about their deep admiration for Amir, who is serving a life prison sentence for murdering Rabin last Nov. 4.
The girls, whose faces were concealed by straw hats, said they sent Amir love letters, made scrapbooks with his pictures and newspaper clippings about him, videotaped TV segments about him and even attended his trial in Tel Aviv.
They said they were drawn to him by his "cute smile," adding that the former law student who shot Rabin because he opposed the premier's peace policies was "a national hero."...
...Amir had sought religious justification for his act, sayingthat Rabin's policies with the Palestinians were putting Jewish lives at risk.
The students, who attend the Gross State Religious School in Kiryat Gat, said their parents knew of their infatuation and did not interfere.
They added it was clear that some teachers at their school supported Amir's actions, even if they did not express this openly.
"You can see that some of the teachers supported the murder," one of the girls said.
"They won't say that explicitly. They prefer to be quiet. But when we pressure them, you can clearly see they support it."...

"He had this smile, a sweet smile, very attractive," gushed the 17-year- old Israeli school girl from the town of Kiryat Gat. "His picture is hanging on my wall, and on my door I hung a picture which I clipped from the newspaper and enlarged. I love him."
Her idol, it turned out, is not Michael Jackson, but Yigal Amir, the 26-year-old law student who assassinated Yitzhak Rabin, the Israeli Prime Minister, last year. Together with several of her school friends, she has set up a "Yigal Amir Fan Club" which writes to him in jail and collects clippings and pictures of him. Another one of three girls interviewed from the Gross religious school in Kiryat Gat, a town which lies 50 miles from Jerusalem, told Israeli television: "Yes, he's a murderer, but he did it with good intentions.
"He cared about his people and his country and the fact that Rabin didn't care." She said that many of her friends also greatly admired Amir...
...Demonstrators holding a vigil outside the Gross school in memory of Mr Rabin were abused by local residents who shouted: "Shulamit Aloni [a left- wing politician] is the next one. We will assassinate Shulamit Aloni." On one wall of the school was written: "Peres is next in line." Zevulan Hammer, the Education Minister, is to set up an inquiry into the "fan club", but is himself a leader of the far-right National Religious Party and unlikely to take stern measures against the school.

Song for a murderer
The line between news and entertainment is blurred when a singer appearing on a TV show calls for the release of Yigal Amir and is then asked to perform a love song. On Monday, the television show "Five in the Evening with Rafi Reshef" started off with an interview with Ariel Zilber, the singer who supports the release of Yigal Amir. Anyone who wanted to know more about Zilber's opinions was granted another opportunity to learn that "Yigal Amir is deserving of rights," that "they release murderers every day"...After Reshef elicited the quotes he had aimed for, he asked Zilber to sing something.

Jewish Terrorist Gets Conjugal Visits
Visit authorized for Rabin's murderer and his wife to take place in secure room at Ayalon Prison. Minister Pines-Paz: This is a macabre gift from the State to the murderer Yigal Amir just ahead of the assassination’s anniversary...
...The room itself will contain a TV set, shower, bathroom and queen-size bed.
Trimbobler is permitted to bring dry fruit, pastries and nuts, while Amir may carry with him two bottles of water and kosher food he receives in his cell...
...Labor Minster Eitan Cabel expressed his surprise over the timing of the conjugal visit.
“We are only a few weeks away from the anniversary of Rabin’s assassination, so I can’t understand this whole issue,” he said. “Did Yigal Amir understand that in order to be eligible for a conjugal visit he must mend his ways? This man killed the prime minister and intended to break down Israel’s democratic foundation.”
