No one is scared of communists.
It just sucks as political ideology
The total failure of it in practice just shows that no matter how good and altruistic a theory is, humans cannot put it into practice without our base instincts of greed taking over.
The same goes for capitalism, its just taking a bit longer for that to implode.

well said. communism was naive and based on the fundamental goodness and altruism of people - except of course there is no such thing.

people who lived under it hated communism. to think that there are people who think it is a good poltiical model is staggering. only the truly stupid could do that.

Most of the modern day Chinese seem pretty happy with it.

thats certainly one of the sillier things you've said.

My wife makes quite alot of money dealing with them so I have a pretty good idea on this one   Smiley

I must say though Woody - having watched Once were Warriors about your people and having seen what you gay people get up to.

I can see why you needed to leave your family in such a hurry and leave the country.

They would have belted you into next week!

Communists completely fked this world up after WW2.
They deserve to be outed.

Ask anyone who lived in the Warsaw Pact countries 1945 - 1990 and they'll tell you about Communism.

Now being one of the multitude of Greens' grassroot supporters, have implied towards me that I am a communist.

First thing I usually say to this is no I am not a communist.

Second, where is the insult that you imply.

So, what is wrong with being a member, or a supporter of communistic ideas in Australia?

People are scared of the communists because of a scare campaign thats been going on for a century now.

The basic core of the communist society is actually pretty good and if you could get it implemented in a fair way it would do wonders for society.
But it depends on the state being fair and non corrupt which is virtually impossible.

We live in a dictatorship right now tho..

The scare campaign is legitimate. Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot have killed millions. Attempts to annihilate class results in the annihilation of millions.
And to claim we live in a dictatorship now is preposterous. You're now free to speak your mind without persecution. Criticizing government policy in communist states meant gulags and death.

See all the free countries of this world??

You can thank the United States of America for that.

In fact Australia may want to think about thanking for the 50 years of a Pacific protection umbrella they lived under provided by the United States.

Actually polynesian gays have a very high place within the society

Quote:
In Bora Bora a few of the service staff were conspicuously tall women whom the trained eye revealed to be men, and who represent ‘the third sex’ in the islands.

According to Francois Bauer, for centuries, traditional families in French Polynesia raised their eldest son as a woman, or Mahu, believing him to have divine qualities, and the best traits of both sexes.

In the 1960′s, when the French began nuclear testing in Tahiti, there weren’t enough women to entertain all of the soldiers, so many of the local men became women. Now that’s what I call hospitality.

Today, the Mahu (MAH-who) are effeminate men who choose to live as women. The term Raerae (ray-ray) is also used, but I’d exercise caution. Originally coined for transsexual prostitutes, Polynesian transsexuals may consider it a term of derision and react accordingly – which I personally witnessed on our trip – so I’d go with Mahu unless they correct you.

I dont support Communism but I do think the genocidal rampages of a few mad men should not be confused with Communism.
After all...Milosevic did not claim to be a Communist nor did Adolf, in fact they both clearly stated they hated Communists. As for Pol Pot he was supported in his fight against Vietman by the USA anti Communist govt of the time.
Modern Communism is clearly working in China.

Communism in China is now basically state organised capitalism. They are hell bent on establishing world markets for profit and further investment. Just look at how our market is saturated with Chinese goods.
Also, recently they have passed bills supporting (some) private property.

we'd thank them if it werent for the fact you'd somehow think of it as a personal thank you.

you are more like those 'stateless people'. you 'shop' for a country and see what they have to offer you. You are JFK's nightmare.
