I remember when the old days when the black fella was called a black fella, and the white fella was called that.

Darkie was a name given with affection.  The Indian cricker on our team was affectionatley known as Butters (after butter chicken of course) and the red headed guy was always Bluey.  The older guy with the greying hair was silver and the tubby guy was, well, Tubby.

Suddenly people because so precious.

When did it stop being about how it was said, now it just cant be said at all.

1. I'm not racist. I just support the white race football team.

2. Well, yes, I am racist, but what's wrong with that? We're all racists.

3. Racists have become the victims. It's an active witch-hunt. It's the PC brigade as usual, raining on everybody's parade.

4. Don't you hate the "I hate everyone equally" line? Racists should stand up and be counted. We need to stick together.

5. They had it right in the old days. You used to be able to call them boongs and kaffers. What's wrong with that? It's just a bit of harmless fun and putting them in their place.

Ahhh those were the days.  Well, having spent my entire adult life under the jackboot of political corrrectness, I can only assume they were the days. But it's not so much a matter of going back to the good ol' days, as moving forward, beyond this ridiculous system of "benevolent" tyranny and onto a system where honesty is a virtue and not a liability, and weaknesses are liabilities and not virtues.

To have met some Chinese people who were humorous, or to have met some that were dirty pushy and arrogant; and then to assume that those people were representative of all Chinese, isn't 'being shaped by experience' it's stupidity.

Now you can generalise about a culture, fairly. You can say, 'there's a lot of racism in Japanese culture' and that might be true, though I suspect it's less true than it was. But to assume that a Japanese individual you just met is a racist... that's racism.

Racism exists because a lot of people are easily led. Leaders who say, "the big noses come here and they take your jobs. Vote for me and I'll keep you safe from the big noses." Are just using the oldest con in the power game. The only people who ever benefit from racism are those leaders, for a while. Nowhere, at any time, have racist attitudes benefitted anybody. Racism is base stoopid.

If you go to church and announce that you don't like Christians, what do you expect? People generally don't take too kindly to you saying you don't like them, especially when you haven't met them.

I'm an exception. You can hate me all you like.

Of course you can get people to like each other. How do you think advertising works? You repeat the same message over and over again. White Amerikans were annoyed at the blacks for rioting and sticking it to the man until Bill Cosby came along.

Grey is right. Racism is not a natural or ahistorical phenomenon. It's kindled by people with an interest in creating division. This includes the media. Stories without conflict are boring.

You're free to think whatever you like, but if you believe that excluding others based on their skin tone is a basic human right, there's nothing I can say that will change your mind. Feel free to keep the dream alive.
