Participate in my survey
Jan 18th, 2012 at 10:53am

Hello, everyone. I hope you're all having a fine day.
I'm a Tafe student, and I'm writing a report on the public perception of climate change. I find it interesting that public opinion is so divided on this issue and am trying to get a sense of why this is.
I'd appreciate it if you could take a moment to fill out my survey. And of course, any thoughts you have on the subject would be extremely useful.

1. Do you believe that climate change is real?     Yes/No

2.Do the potential threats of climate change worry you (rising sea levels, higher temperatures, animal extinction, etc.)?     Yes/No

3. Is enough being done to combat climate change?     Yes/No

4. Is the carbon tax neccessary?     Yes/No

5. Do you think that the media report on the issue of climate change accurately?     Yes/No

6. Where do you receive your information on climate change?     Television/Internet/Radio/Books/Magazines/Other

7. Do you feel as though you have enough information on this issue?     Yes/No

Thank you very much for your time. Smiley

Yeah Gizmo, I was going to verify that this was about anthropomorphic climate change or the natural occurring climate change.

Set up a proper survey page and link to it.  Just Google free online survey.

Hadn't thought of that one. Might have to add it, but I don't want the survey to be too long. Don't want to annoy anyone.
The survey is actually half of an interview on the subject. The other half contains more open ended questions that I thought wouldn't really work.

I'll give that a try. I thought here would be a good place to start, since climate change is such a contentious issue and seems to be wrapped up in politics.

(being lazy) As above, but "Yes" for the last question.

The suggested question "Is Climate Change caused by man?" is ambiguous. Anthropogenic Climate Change is caused by man.  Climate change can also include the slow natural processes that have been manifested in previous periods of glaciation. Obviously these were not caused by man, and I doubt if anybody in their right mind would disagree with that, because man was not yet established on the planet en masse.

Perhaps the question could be more like - "Do the potential threats of climate change worry you (rising sea levels, higher temperatures, animal extinction, etc.)?" - which is what you asked anyway.

It shouldn't be wrapped up in politics. It's about atmospheric physics (and the consequences thereof).

The whole term 'climate change' is generally used in an ambiguous manner anyway...There are two different types, Anthropogenic and Natural......but people rarely differentiate between them, in mass media and on forums like these.....

Thanks heaps. I have a quota to fulfill for the assignment, and every bit helps.
I've lurked around this forum for a little while and have seen it get pretty nasty, so I wasn't sure what to expect when I posted the survey up. But you've all been very helpful.
The answers I'm getting are surprising, too. If I'd put this up somewhere like yahoo7, the responses would've been completely different.

And I believe the climate is being affected by irresponsible human behaviour.
