Protesters want "humane" refugee policy
Jan 10th, 2012 at 4:49pm

This story was posted online by the Daily Telegraph today and just makes me laugh. The thing that Lee Rhiannon conveniently chooses to ignore is that Australia had a far more humane policy for dealing with illegal immigrants under the Howard government than what exists (or could exist) under the ALP/Greens minority.

Gillard wants to send these people to Malaysia, a country that uses the cane as a form of punishment in its detention facilities. It would also see them crammed in like sardines in stark contrast to the conditions that exist in Australian detention facilities. That's the first point.

The second point is that the Pacific Solution was far more humane than the current ALP non-solution in that so far hundreds, if not thousands, of people have died at sea in their attempts to reach Australia. Why? Because the ALP dismantled a policy that deterred people smugglers and their human cargo, thereby almost eliminating the risk to the lives of people attempting to cross the water between Indonesia and Australia. All this was done in the name of being more "humane" but all we've seen is many more boats come with many more deaths.

If those bleeding hearts out there want a more humane policy, don't vote Labor or Greens at the next election so that the Coalition can stop the boats with a policy that is proven to be extremely effective and far less expensive than what the ALP is doing.

Just aside, what happened to the prospective boat passengers during the time of Howard's Pacific Solution?

If all of them were slaughtered why wasn't there an outcry?

Seems those who had to give away the idea of gate crashing into Australia, somehow managed to survive elsewhere.

Fact is, that we can't accommodate every person who wants a better lifestyle on Welfare - too damned many so best to accept only the proven refugees.

I would say they realised there were other countries they could claim asylum in - such as those they transited through or near on their way to Indonesia...

Under the LIBs Australia has a human REFUGEE policy

Under Labor - the courts decided that their Malaysian Solution was inhumane

I hope you've got space for a few thousand that will arrive this year because of the ALP's incompetence.

Well we have another hateful attack from Blackadder, what a surprise.
Of course he knows that only Wealthy people ever show generousity towards others, and kindness towards strangers and visitors to our shore is obviously such a huge part of right wing philosophy, which the likes of Abbott promotes.
If it is good to hate strangers, then I guess it is good to hate people that don't hate the strangers as well, I guess that makes sense if you are a patriot like Tone.
Maybe he modeled himself on the character, "Bill The Butcher", from The Gangs Of New York, who proudly affirmed his intention to keep throwing rocks at migrants, as they came off the boats, and bemoaned that he just wished he had enough bullets and guns so he could slaughter them before they ever got to set foot on HIS country's soil.
These  racist loons don't get it, a-holes like them have been preaching hate forever, all you need to qualify is to look, think, or act, "different" to "US(or Them, depending upon your perspective)???
