The difference is that Julia Gillard is looking long term and Abbott is looking short term.....Australia needs a leader who will take advantage of our dominant position provided by strong investment and a sound economy.....Australia needs to take advantage of the situation offered by the rest of the world being complete basket cases and Asia being the driving force during the next decade.....Abbott will not take advantage of this opportunity and shut down our economy for domestic short term political gain.....We need leader with vision like Julia Gillard who will engage Asia and spend the revenue necessary to drive growth while Australia is the preferred supplier and has the ability to deliver......We do not need constraint and less spending we need growth and spending to boost our terms of trade and drive growth into the next decades while we have such an economic advantage....We need more not less!!!

Cool

perhaps you guys should throw your hat in the ring when she steps down.. you seem to have all the answers..and everyone knows you couldnt do any worse..

maybe gillard should become a member of ozpol... she could learn a thing or two from you guys.

Perhaps it's best that Tony gets in to give the up and comers within Labor time to fully find their feet.
I mean how bad could 3 years get

well as you have as good admitted it cant get any worse than what we have had..

No I never said that, frankly it will remain the same or get worse

like t or not China has kept us afloat in exactly he same way. as you keep telling us it kept Howard afloat...

China will keep the WHOLE global economy going for a few years yet

it was nothing to do with Howard and Costello... and its the same now.... only big difference is the debt and no surplus..

Forgetting 08 again, it's like conservatives have a collective memory loss.
I will remind you that they themselves have admitted they would only have spent a little less than Labor and be in defiect as well

I am not picking holes now just saying it like it is..mmm forgot the waste..

in fact its a little better we forget no war in Iraq.

but press on..

?

personally I dont think people have taken to gillard...not sure what they expected to be honest...

but I think everything she did from the time she gave Rudd her promise not to move on him!!!!and then the Lie...which she claimed wasnt a lie..

and who will forget the REAL JULIA..oh gawd.it all became artificial somehow.

well all I know is it was a huge turn off..for me.

Fair enough

I would never have voted for her.. but I think I would have given her a fair go...most of my rants have been at what i call extreme biased lefties on here..one has to get their own back after all.

OK

the nasty first about Nelson the sneering and the Turnbull who will forget utegate..and then Abbott its all been extreme when they are not the govt...

so in turn we hit back at every little thing this lot did... and boy didnt they do a lot to hit back at..

it was gobsmacking.. and I think its a shame you guys at least one of you didnt own up to that..

?

here we have the govt coming to the party... will they say they made a mistake. ummmmmmmmmmmmm
perhaps not but even you would have to admit a bit of humble pie is being eaten..

now I am not saying Nauru will be the B.all and end all..its a whole new ballgame... but it couldnt be worse than whats happening right now..

The catalyst for my post, it's seems they will start the year floudering again, on the refugee's

and the thought of Malaysia would have done us so much harm abroad...I just shudder..thinking what we would send 800 souls into.... and for what to prove a point I am thinking... not because its right.

its a funny thing I dont feel smug about all this at all..and I would be surprised if Abbott does.or shall I say disappointed if he does..

I think we have to feel good about stopping them dying like this..

did you read where they now say members of the Indonesian Police and Army were also part of this..talk about sick.. there would be no way of stopping this..and weve just given that lot 3 war planes.. we must have rocks in our head..

Do you feel better now that's off your chest? Grin

I am sorry whats the sarcasm for???..I thought you wanted some feedback.. excuse me I am sure.

back to abbott bashing.

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic, I just imagined you furiously typing and the cathartic feeling I sometimes get after getting a rant off my chest Wink

perhaps because when you talk about Gillard and 'long term vision' you sound ridiculous. the womn passed a carbon tax not for vision or future but so she could stay PM - nothing more. she is a hack and nothing else.

the left????

this is why people ignore your rants. when you cant even work out that the last even MODERATELY left-wing govt in australia was turfed our in 1975 then you look idiotic.

labor is centre-right as is the coalition. barely any difference between them on the political spectrum.

Don't worry about phil cods he is another one going of the rails like pansi.

Phil knows labor are done and dusted at the next election and has gone into cry baby mode early.

The only thing keeping OZ out of the poo is mining. Bugger all to do with labor managing the economy.

Swan couldn't run a school tuck shop but moronic Phil couldn't organize a hiss in a snake pit.

It's all too easy for Abbott these days.
As our friends on the right of centre tell us, all he has to do is continue to run his totally negetive policy free campaign and she seems to do the work for him.
Barring a stellar year, which frankly is wishful thinking, from Labor and particually Gillard I'm starting to think he actually will still be leader of the opposition come 2013 and fall into the lodge.

This is not to say I believe she has got a fair go at the job, far from it, the political climate fueled by the media has been the most poisonous I can remember(being just 5 at the time of Whitlam).
Whether it's how she came into the job, or the false but successful story of a litany of failed policies, perhaps even the gender argument.
But whatever it is the fact remains at this point in time it's looking extremely likely that Prime Minister Abbott will be a reality.

Very accurate description of the current situation - I would like to water down the extremely word but still very likely.

Tony is starting to show some holes in his approach and there is a limit to the amount of negativity the electorate will accept before they wake up.

Maybe grasping at straws.

So does she need to call a spill, suck the oxygen out of that story at least from the scribes?

Who would challenge, anyone else you think should toss their hat in besides Rudd?
Personally to my mind Rudd is just going back to the future and would just give Tony another head to kick with the same old lines.
Combet comes to my mind but he is far to green at present.

In the past one spill have only given the story more oxygen and inevitibly led to a second stronger challenge.

Much more likely to start a media frenzy pushing what is just BS speculation at present to the front pages.

It may also give Abbott a huge kick ahead as the more stable option.

No. It doesn't matter even if she does go, Labor have absolutely no hope in hell of winning an election for years to come. Australians don't like being lied to, ...

They didn't seem to mind when the Liberals were lying to them.

The conservatives were saying that as long as the economy is strong we don't care. That was acknowledgment from their supporters that yes they were lies we were being told.

Like dna, I think a spill would solve nothing. Leadership speculation seems to be something that the media will go on about regardless. Even if there were a spill, even if there were a change of PM the media would immediately start obsessing with the next leadership tension/the Gillard comeback/the Rudd push/whatever scenario the one idea media can come up with.

Nevertheless, there's no reason speculation should trigger anything. Look at the Howard/Costello situation. How many years did that drag on for??

Having said that... Combet and Shorten would be likely but both need more time. Cameron!??! Oh yeah, I'd love that. A man with the balls to speak his mind. Truly, I'd LOVE it!  Smiley Smiley Wink

If Gillard doesn't get competent soon which will shut Abbott down, he'll be in like Flynn come next election.
