we live in scary times

just be careful where you park your car when you come to Sydney

HE admitted planning a terrorist attack against Sydney - now Khaled Sharrouf is accused of causing terror in the carpark.

One of a group of men who plotted to attack the Lucas Heights nuclear reactor in 2005, Sharrouf allegedly punched a restaurant owner during a brawl over a parking space.

Sharrouf and his co-accused - former two- time Australian super-featherweight boxing champion Ahmed Elomar - have been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm over the violent incident in October.

Australia's 'Terror 9' no-fly list

One of the alleged victims, Aiman Al Khair, feared for his life when confronted by the pair at his western Sydney restaurant, police claim.

On the night of the incident, Mr Al Khair had driven into the private carpark behind the Titanic Cafe and Restaurant in Bankstown, to find a white 4WD parked across three parking spaces.

Mr Al Khair parked beside the car, which prevented the 4WD from leaving.

Police allege Sharrouf and Elomar later confronted Mr Al Khair and his brother, Ahmed in the restaurant after discovering their trapped car.

"You won't be alive today. I'm gonna burn down the shop," Elomar allegedly said.

"I'm gonna shoot you."

Police claim Elomar then punched Ahmed Al Khair twice in the face before Sharrouf joined in the brawl and allegedly repeatedly punched Mr Al Khair.

The fight continued outside and police were called, finding the pair walking up the street "red in the face and short of breath".

Both Elomar and Sharrouf have denied the charges against them and will face a Local Court hearing in March.

"There were four statements from police officers which hadn't been provided and a DNA certificate," Sharrouf's lawyer, Simon Joyner, said.

Sharrouf was released from jail in 2009, having earlier pleaded guilty to acts in preparation for a terrorist act.

You get what's coming to you when you take up extra parking space in Bankstown.

Gallipoli would indicate that the mosque is perhaps owned by Turkish Muslims who have immigrated to the Auburn area.

Turkey is almost 80% Sunni Muslim, very tolerant people who are most welcome in my country.

So Pansi you would have welcomed Saddam Hussein to 'your country'? Well he is a Sunni. Peaceful? Absolutely. Poor fellow was just misunderstood.

Wave of bombings across Iraqi capital kills 69
By QASSIM ABDUL-ZAHRA, Associated Press – 1 hour ago
BAGHDAD (AP) — A wave of 16 bombings ripped across Baghdad Thursday, killing at least 69 people in the worst violence in Iraq for months. The apparently coordinated attacks struck days after the last American forces left the country and in the midst of a major government crisis between Shiite and Sunni politicians that has sent sectarian tensions soaring.
The bombings may be linked more to the U.S. withdrawal than the political crisis, but all together, the developments heighten fears of a new round of Shiite-Sunni sectarian bloodshed like the one a few years back that pushed Iraq to the brink of civil war.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility. But the bombings bore all the hallmarks of al-Qaida's Sunni insurgents. Most appeared to hit Shiite neighborhoods, although some Sunni areas were also targeted. In all, 11 neighborhoods were hit by either car bombs, roadside blasts or sticky bombs attached to cars. There was at least one suicide bombing and the blasts went off over several hours.

<<Shop assistants should stick to what they know, which is nothing.>>
..............................................

Are you a shop assistant longy? I knew the waterworks wouldn't last, not in this economic climate. People don't need to pay for information they can get for free off the internet.

Never mind you'll get to retire one day like me. In the meantime there's nothing wrong with good honest  Huh retail work.

Anyway, the US led invasion worked well didn't it? It will be the same in Afghanistan. All for what? OIL, greedy, greedy America.
....................................................

“The worst thing that could happen would be a return to US occupation; that’s what led to this level of sectarian divide in the first place.I think what is needed is a full withdrawal of US troops, not only from Iraqi territory, but from what they like to call ‘over the horizon.’ We now have thousands of US troops poised at new US bases in Kuwait, on ships, on the coast, and ready to move back in.It’s a very threatening environment, as well threatening to Iraq’s neighbors, most notably Iran. This is not a stabilizing force, it never has been. I don’t accept the premise that the US occupation force has provided stability. If we look at 2006/2007, at the height of the US occupation, those were the two years or so of the worst kind of sectarian warfare that Iraq had ever seen.”
