EV charging points at Monash University

The EV revolution has started !!

Monash University is set to receive a Toyota Prius plug-in vehicle in the next fortnight as part of the Victorian State Government Electric Vehicle Trial.

The Prius will power-up at the charge point installed in carpark C2 – the first to be installed in Victoria! The charge point is one of many to be installed at the Clayton campus and will ensure that Monash University Clayton campus is a destination for first movers in the electric vehicle field.

A requirement of the trial is that the vehicle is charged with 100% Green Power (electricity generated from renewable resources). Monash University intends to use Green Power purchased through our current electricity supply arrangement, as well as some of the electricity generated by the Campus Centre solar panels.

Whilst the trial is happening at Monash University, households are also invited to take part through a ballot system being run by the RACV. Electric Vehicles

The Victorian State Government recently took delivery of a fleet of Mitsubishi electric vehicles that will form the first part of the Electric Vehicle trial. The vehicles are full plug in electrics and are amongst the first in Australia.

Monash University is delighted to announce our participation in the trial and that we will be hosting the launch of the state wide trial at the Clayton campus in late September.

Monash University will receive an electric vehicle that will sit within the Clayton campus pool vehicle fleet together with a charging point for the vehicle. There will also be a number of public charging points.

It is hoped that our participation in the trial and availability of public charging points will ensure that Monash University Clayton campus is a destination of choice for first movers in the electric vehicle field.

I would nominate to go into the trial, but sadly the car isnt big enough to actually use for the wife, and my wife does a whopping 2000 to 5000 kms a year, with 90% of that carrying a load.

Got my post mixed up, my ute only does 2-5k a year, my wife does a lot more.

Didnt realise you put this up for no one to comment on.

When does your EV arrive? Are these commercially avaliable yet? Only reason I ask, could you have got a better deal buying new instead of the backyard one thats coming.

You actually have to charge it by riding a stationary exercise bike, and the spinning of the wheel will work similar to turbine and so on.

Nails will be powered by hot air which will be converted to electricity since he generates so much of it.
