very interesting.
Have always liked Penny Wong, and her forthright approach, and she was in good form ....

Don't you just laugh at the way the opp q's are often based on a presumption , ..of what might happen, eg carbon tax - etc.  Roll Eyes Fearmongering  and sly... but not very smart IMO.

I don't expect perfection... after all,, it's not poss to have the perfect pollie... 'cos  people do make mistakes.
No-one is exempt from human fallibility.

Re Asylum seekers....  that's one area where the PM has disappointed me. Its absurd and wrong to refuse to take asylum seekers.!!   It is part of our responsibility as members of the world community.
Thankfully the Australian High Court decision - ruling the "Malaysian" solution was not lawful has pointed the way.  That pollies still push 'off-shore processing' just stands as evidence that they do not understand law. They only understand their desires. Well, mostly anyway.
No way should Labor now even consider alternatives to taking these people !!!

NO WAY can we shove this issue off onto ANY of our nthn neighbours. That is craven, unethical, and simply not acceptable. The opposition  position is WORSE. Sad Angry

This is one of the hard pills  decent people must sometimes swallow.

Psycopath Geoengineers Artificially Warm Antarctic to Drill for Oil

It appears controlling the issuance of currency is not enough for our global parasite leaders. Now they are adding chemicals and toxins to the air they can control the weather like gods.

Global Geoengineering Governance: Currently the U.S. Government, our military, NASA, NOAA (other U.S. agencies), any city, county, state, private indivduals, corporations, foreign governments, and foreign corporations, can initiate any type of geoengineering experiments without public knowledge, consent, government restrictions or public debate.

Recent Research by the ADC has led to some interesting findings with regard to both Alaska and the Arctic areas. It appears that many government agencies and leaders in the United States have discussed how the natural resources of these areas could be exploited if these areas were artificially warmed.

yEH, I was surprised how much THE ORIGINAL IRON MAIDEN SINGER sounded like
DRAGON in that band!??!

Yes, Paul Dianno is the original Iron Maiden singer which is the only reason I posted this for ya!

Now do you like it?

You don't have to say yes, but how about this...

..oh, and also it made sense with the quote: this one does not but I can't help but post it so you can see why I was listening to the first one.

(What, am I paranoid or sumthing??)  Cheesy

Hopefully you will be cool with this last one, or...

... I'm afraid I might have to say I can't help ya!!

The song 'Motorhead' was written in HAWKWIND!

That's as much as I know....

Motorhead had an album in '76 called OnParole(Brilliant!) so Hawkwind must have been before that. I think Iron Maiden started in the early 80s, so a little later but not much!!

It's not that I never heard of Iron Maiden... everyone has.. Smiley.. just i was listening to other stuff.

Hawkwind were a British band,  I'd call it heavy psychedelia -  pretty original I thought,  in the early days -  of Yes -  Jethro Tull - and obviously Pink Floyd!.

The renowned author  Michael Moorcock was a collaborator  of theirs. Or was that Phillip K Dick. ?? Huh  No pretty sure it was Moorcock.

Everything since has really seemed pretty derivative to me.  Then you get the derivatives of the derivatives.!!

But hey - I don't some  heavy stuff.... gotta say AC/DC  evn Ramstein.!! Henry Rollins. Smiley Smiley

Think we're WAY OFF topic,....
but then again - a discussion such as this sort of demonstrates the way we humans get distracted from the main game. !!

AND THE ICE CONTINUES TO SHRINK.!!

First, some thinking music....

Now,...

The Merchants' Wheel

Now human means transcend
All human measure
And pile up wealth
To impoverish the heart,

Men trace the heights of fear
The depths of pleasure,
Now human means transcend all
Human measure,

Simply to channel this
Blind wave of treasure
Regardless what bonds
Its bright streams wrench apart.

Now human means
Transcend all human measure
And pile up wealth
To impoverish the heart.

(Les Murray, Australian Poet!)

so the current flooding in NSW VIC and QLD can't be directly related to Ice melt, either Arctic, or Antarctic,...... but ....surely you deniers are getting worried.!!
If not, you are surely blind to anything you don't wish to see.

If YOU haven't experienced actual flooding of your home, you must either know someone who has, or at least empathise.!!
These floods in central Oz are unprecedented in our written history.

With more to come.
OH right. thats right.. this happens all the time.!! Roll Eyes

What we don't know is how the warming of our oceans will impact on their convectional dynamics. What we do know is that an increase in GH gases will cause an imbalance between the amount of energy the Earth receives from the Sun, and the energy it looses to Space. More GH gases make it harder for the Earth to loose energy to space, so heat starts to build-up here. The physics behind this is indisputable.

What is not very well understood by the general public is that since 1961, 90% of this heat has been stored in our oceans. By comparison only 3% of this build up in heat has been stored in our atmosphere. This information can be found in the IPCCs 2007 report.

Another interesting phenomenon is that in the last decade the lower layer of the ocean, between 700 & 2000 metres, has been warming much faster than the top layer. Is this impacting on our major ocean currents such as the southern oscillation which is responsible for our La Nina and El Nino events? The science is far from settled, but to exclude global warming as a cause of our recent peculiar weather patterns, would be just silly.

I was walking in floodwater up to my neck on the Gold Coast back in 1968.
Like these floods, that had nothing to do with melting ice and any other such rot either.
And yes, it does happen all the time funnily enough, just not in the same places all of the time.
And the only people who are worried actually are the handwringing doomsday brigade.

Not quite unprecedented.
These floods are Wagga Wagga's worst since their previous flooding of 1853.
No melting arctic ice then, or Co2 crap either.
