thanks for your confidence in my ability to answer the questions, but sorry, I don't have data from  900AD. Cheesy

Maybe some scientist somewhere does. Smiley Wink

You need to consult a global warming haruspex for this information.
Every bedwetter should have one.
These left wing scientists have the latest in tree rings and icy poles, and are even able to predict a thousand years into the future let alone 900AD.

Gizmo, like a large proportion of deniers, simply believe there are much larger forces at work on the planet than mankind.
They dont know what it is, but they know, absolutely, it exists.

Its a kind of god thing. The religious element will come right out and call it "god".   Those not so inclined sometimes clamor for vague concepts like "natural cycle", or "solar influences".
Maybe God only knows what exactly these are. Wink

Because these things sound "scientific", they believe it gives them more credibility and distances themselves from their god-bothering bretheran.

The question is, at what point does mankinds population and technology start to impact on the climate of a planet the size of ours.   Scientists are saying, "about now".
Deniers think it sometime off, or maybe never.

That's circular reasoning ( of the Biblical sort...i.e the Bible proves God exists, because the Bible says so)... -  GVOID

Oh? ah yes .. like your 'cyclical' argument,
it happened before, so it will happen again.  That's it in a short sentence isn't it?
YOUR ARGUMENT.?  Nothing more nothing less. Smiley Wink

Nearly.....try instead "it's happened before WITHOUT human action, so why must it be human action this time???"....

The major point is....unless something is unique, you should look for common components, and warming events and ice sheet shrinkages are NOT unique, first time events....so what (or who) caused the previous happenings????   ( If you hear hoof beats in a local Sydney park, look for horses, not zebras)

The handwringers will see what they wish to see, and the zealots from the Church of Global Warming will manipulate data to suit their arguement.

An article on Wednesday entitled ‘Global Warmists throw in the towel”

[i]The IPCC report of 2007, which won the Nobel Prize for Peace, ironically is this crazy movement’s downfall. A laughable (in hindsight) claim that the Himalayas would be ice-free in 23 years showed that the report was thrown together and not vetted — much less properly peer-reviewed. Global warming charlatans such as Michael Mann and Phil Jones tried to hide their work from any scrutiny. Our gullible government kept the grants going as bureaucrats never questioned these frauds — and gullible reporters continued to carry water for them even after Climategate showed that this was a charade.  Now the jig is up. A very cold winter in Europe is now offered as proof of this cockamamie scheme.

I'll ask the 'scarey' question again....

How much IS the 'rate of change'???

No, the "old Maqqa one" is the amount of Co2, not the rate of temp change....

Very good summary of the situation here:

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science/columnist/vergano/story/2012-02-19/politics-climate-change-science/53137248/1

..."The science doesn't matter because the science isn't the real issue," Brulle adds. "It's about politics and money." All we have with climate change, he suggests, is politicians taking sides in an economic debate over whether we should spend money to address climate change, or not (with one side very strongly opposed), and hiding behind a smokescreen of debate about settled science to avoid making those issues clear.
"Take away the political divide between parties over the environment and all the debate about the science disappears," Brulle says. Every time you read a story claiming global warming science isn't real, he concludes, you are watching a sideshow, a magician's act designed to distract you while our political and industrial leaders put off any decisions about climate. ....
