Anyway I think a fine of $2,000 reflects an attitude not dissimilar to my own. I reject Serena had a 'dummy spit' her remarks were delivered with considerable poise and accuracy. It was a long way off a McEnroe moment.

She was outclassed and unable to accept that the match was going against her. She took out her frustration on the umpire with threatening and intimidatory language and later claimed not to remember what she said. What was accurate about describing the umpire as 'a hater' and 'a loser' among other things?
This woman has a history of this sort of behaviour and does the game no good with her childish tanties.

WTF!?

Sam finally won a Final and the US Open at that!
Good on her - I've always liked her, but admired her "Grey Zone" attitude to Tennis ...not to win, but to enjoy.
She's a bit of a spunk, so hopefully now, she can get a husband and not have her daddy ring her to check on her while eating cereal Grin

Williams has a history with lots of umpires, and this irrational outburst is just the latest in a long line. I did find it curious her fine was so low given her previous behaviour, until I read this : http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/Williams+important+punished+severely/53962... Now I understand why.
