Sam Stosur Wins US Open

Stosur has become the first Australian woman to win a grand slam title in 31 years. After briefly celebrating with her coach and friends, Stosur returned to courtside, chatting with her opponent Serena Williams whilst awaiting for the presentations to begin.

Samantha Stosur is the US Open champion after monstering a second serve return past Serena Wiilliams' backhand to break her serve and take out the second set.

Look I have to say that Stosur and Williams have a great deal of respect for one another and did both before and after the game. Serena said nothing bad to Stosur only to the umpire and in my opinion had good reason to do so. If players were stripped of points every time they yelled "c'mon" Leyton Hewitt would never have got past juniors. It was an outrageous decision.

Williams said it that it had no bearing on the outcome of the match and Sam said that it didn't bother her and that Serena was a great and classy champion.

An unprofessional dummy spit only to be admired by those who approve of such cheap theatrics. The unfortunate thing is that Williams behaviour is getting so much attention when the focus should be on Stosur.

I did in post #9, but then... my fingers outran my brain I guess Grin

Anyway I think a fine of $2,000 reflects an attitude not dissimilar to my own. I reject Serena had a 'dummy spit' her remarks were delivered with considerable poise and accuracy. It was a long way off a McEnroe moment.
