Not as much as I'll enjoy watching you bitch and whine when your power is disconnected due to the fact you refused to pay your bill. I will delight in centre link taking money out of your payments to cover the bills you refused to pay. Grin Grin Grin

Actually, he raises an interesting point.....

Wouldn't it send the message about the rises in power costs
if everyone protested by simply sending their UNOPENED power
bills BACK to the provider?

IF enough people did it, surely either they or the govt would
HAVE to see and acknowledge that we are NOT happy.

And yes, I know we'd still have to pay, but as a
form of protest it has a lot going for it.

The reality is the Government wants to literally create an economy based on artificially engineered scarcity and try to force us to compete in it like animals or savages for the right to survive in their Emissions Trading scheme.  We will  not give them oxygen - we will not waste on dollar of our personal resources fruitlessly acquiring skills to compete endlessly and fruitlessly in an unstable, unsafe work environment like slaves.  we wont compete, we wont pay the Carbon tax and if that means sending our power bills back unpaid then so be it, but we will resist them, we will defeat them through our united collective passive aggressive resistance.

and get everybody cutoff? brilliant idea! or we could try the californian idea and just pass a law banning power rises. they tried that and the end result was the bankruptcy of EVERY energy provider. that lead to mass power cuts.

not a good idea at all and the fact it came from Bedwetter Bill should have been your first clue.

I want nothing to do with the clowns, and I wonder how many more of the 570,000 actually believe in them.

Yep they got me too - so I would question their actual membership numbers.

Did you read the last sentence?

Bedwetters notwithstanding, it is an effective, non-violent
form of protest.

About any number of things......

I supported them on a couple of issues, now they email
me about every campaign they have running, and frankly
I don't support a lot of them.

And this is one of those times....

I was, as I said earlier, very disappointed in them
when they rolled-over on their opposition
to internet censorship.

protest is only viable and effective en masse. if 1000 people decided not to pay their bills, 1000 people would have their power cut off. if 10,000 did that it woudl be newsworthy and an extension to pay granted and THEN cut off. you would need 100,000- 1,000,000 to get any impact and you'd never get that.

I repeat, it is a bedwetter billl idea so you can dispense with it without a second thought.

No they do not have the right to cut peoples power off for refusing to pay a carbon tax.  They cannot and they will not because they will be legally culpable for the consequences of such actions.

This "carbon tax" is the cost of permits purchased by electricity producers - based on Co2 emissions

It is NOT an "add on" retail tax - like the GST

Suppliers can legally disconnect ANYONE for not meeting the payment terms of the contract

I heard the interview with GetUp's director - he's a knob

He didn't even denied he acted this way.

And they do not have 430,000 members - it's a scam

Who is their largest donor of $1.1M

So what are they trying to represent when they the average donation is $45?

No they can not legally do any such thing - we're not gonna pay it - no we're not gonna pay it - we're not gonna pay it any more.  No Private company has the right to cut off power that legally belongs to the people, not a company, not the government - the people.  They have no legal right to impose a carbon tax on our power they have stolen through piracy.  The labour party's many crimes over past decades are not forgotten.
