How could a man lie dead in his Perth home for two years?

The 75-year-old's skeletal remains were found on Thursday slumped against the bed in his unit at the Wellington Street complex by a worker from the Department of Housing, which has an office next door.

Police say it appears the man died of natural causes and are preparing a coroner's report.

Neighbours said it was shocking he had been dead for so long and claimed they had repeatedly urged the department over a year to check on him because they feared something was wrong.

Housing Minister Troy Buswell asked the Department to investigate why the death was not discovered sooner.

One woman said she became concerned about the man, who she knew as Bob, when she noticed his mail piling up.
