I think The Left, that homogenous bloc that represents everything that isn't Liberal (note the capitals, people) in this country, are actually the ones to blame for the high rates of science denial in this country.

High Priest Greg Combet somehow connects hot summers with climate change/global warming. I wonder what he'll say about the coldest May on record? High Priest Greg Combet also quoted a passage from his book "Shyte, I'm Scared" when he said that we would experience reduced rainfall. I hope he doesn't tell Queenslanders..
I literally am at a loss as to how to approach it. Obviously, this is a person who is so scientifically illiterate that they can't understand the concept of a long term trend or statistical noise but at the same time I have a strong urge to ridicule them because they are so obviously tasking a political, not scientific, position.
But, maybe if they'd had more comprehensive exposure to science education while at school they wouldn't only have an understanding of these concepts but they'd have a great all round respect for science.
Instead, I think that the focus on humanities in education over the last thirty years, driven primarily by left leaning unions and teachers, has led to a decline in the emphasis placed on science. If these denier actually understood science then maybe they wouldn't be so easily misled by the media.
Thoughts?
