Howdy folks - just been reading the prev posts.

It seems ludicrous to me the govt and opposition still seek to beat up the most disadvantaged in our society, and think it'll win them votes.
"cos thats what is important for them.
I mean really - Unemployment in Aus at the moment is running at what ? <5%? - Near enough. In fact Australian industry is crying out for workers.
The assumptions implicit in the sort of rhetoric coming from govt and opposition is an insult to Australians - and particularly to the disabled.
To say that half the folk on DSP should be working in industry or where-ever is simply a mindless statement that will appeal to all the equally moronic public who would agree with this preposition.
So this push for retraining and making ill people work has only one real basis. Publicity / Public Opinion / Propaganda. - as spouted in Polls and the News.
Rather than deal with and utilise the now thousands of people imprisoned in camps by our govt , people who came here because they were desperate to make a better life, to
work and grow, Govts prefer a different approach .
The harm of this policy is playing on our TV News , with distressing regularity.
To hear some pompous arrogant and essentially robotic Minister threaten these people with further injustice is utterly repellent to me - to put it politely.
Of course these polls etc are totally irrelevant when it comes to assessing the real feeling of the community at large. Why govts, despite claims to the contrary, pay them any mind at all is beyond me.( yet it's pretty obvious to us all that they do. )
But - logically what is the reason for this purported 'tough' stance on Disabled Pensioners??
I can't think of a legitimate reason at all. Not ONE.
Fair enough we know there are some crook bastards out there ('scuse the Pun) - bastards who'll take anything that's not nailed down, locked up or otherwise secured.
If the Govt really thinks that there are people receiving a DSP incorrectly, let them follow-up, as they rightly should,, BUT lets not try to apply a 'One Size Fits All' policy.
