Top 10 Fav Songs of all time.
Apr 1st, 2011 at 8:40pm

In conjunction with the good thread on Movies, I'm interested in knowing what everyone's favourite Top 10 (enough to make an album vinyl-wise) songs of all time are. I'm sure we will see some songs appear more than once amongst members.
You are allowed to put up one clip along with you list.
Here's mine (not in any order).

1. Host of the Seraphim    by Dead Can Dance
2. Another Brick in the Wall    by Pink Floyd
3. Stairway to Heaven    by Led Zeppellin
4. Yobbo/Wanker    by T.I.S.M
5. Tubular Bells    by Mike Oldfield (The Exorcist)
6. Oxygene II    by Jean-Michel Jarre (Gallipoli)
7. Adagio in G-Minor    by Albonini (Gallipoli)
8. Miserere Mei Deus    by Allegri Pergolesi
9. Shipyards of New Zealand    by Midnight Oil
10. bugger tha Police     by Niggaz with Attitude

as you can see, a pretty mixed bunch but all good none-the-less.

I find it a bit indecent, seeing your soul exposed like this.

Have some shame and decency ( I know they are unusual concepts)  and keep it to yourself, will ya?

My guess is that 'The Carnival is Over' by the Seekers is the 'original',
as I've grown up on the Dead Can Dance version which I know isn't the original although their version was played at the Closing Ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

lol, I could not disagree more(what a surprise) Grin
I like seeing other people's lists, and sometimes even find gems I had not known, or had forgotten.

I however could never even attempt to name 10 favourite songs in order, as I probably have a thousand that I could rotate into those top ten places, and still bemoan the great ones I forgot.

A good, thought provoking question was posed to me once, which was,

"if you had to choose just one singer to listen to for the rest of your life, who would it be?"

My immediate response was Van Morrison, because of his range I felt I would have longer before I hated hearing him alone, and on further consideration I have not been able to think of anyone to make me alter that opinion.

I guess for you it would be harder, because the classical scene has some pretty limiting restrictions on their vocalists.

Don't be mean, darkhall.

I recently noticed he wrote "Morning Glory", too, which Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Ponies made famous ("The Hobo")

Have a listen to the Rimi Natsukawa song "Hana" that i posted.

Do it with your eyes closed and ignore that it's in a foreign language.

I fell in love with this song in my first year in japan and it became one of my wedding songs.

Whatcha think?
