While you are technically correct Brown did say that the statements on Israel cost them votes.
While LW has stretched the point I do not think it is an entirely unreasonable exageration.
Though I doubt that this statement has had the impact some may think.
In virtually every election I can remember the Greens have been expected to do well but it has only come to fruition on one or two occasions.
I think there are two major reasons, One is that people who indicate they may vote green in servays etc chicken out by the time they reach the booth and the second more specific to this election where we have a minority government nationally which always tends to polarise votes to the major party's.
In this case with votes also going away from Labor it meant the Libs and Nats did unreasonably well. Anyone expecting a strong Green result in this situation has missed the mark badly, they have done well to stay basically where they were or maybe a slight improvement.
