Maybe we should just treat Fools like we do it_is_the_light???

And let her (or him) rant alone in a 'personal' thread...and just pop in occasionally to read the posts...and giggle???

What do you think muso?? just like the 'lightbringers' posts in Spirituality?...Nonsensical, but amusing??

We have polluted this planet's ecosystem with lethal radionuclides some of which will linger until well after the Sun has exhausted its fusionable fuel.

The Human Gift of fear and greed has been bestowed upon ALL life forever

Which is like YOUR 'delusional' ideas ....as in 1000 times the 'death' rate at Chernobyl......9000, as opposed to your fabricated' 985,000' deaths???

Don't worry...I'm sure 'everyone' believes' the Greenpeace numbers....instead of the REAL numbers...

Let me get this straight gizmo
EXACTLY 9000
died from the Chernobyl.

The 985,000 estimate is from a report by the New York Academy of Sciences who translated over 5000 published Russian medical aritcles and reports.

Pretty impressive source hey gizmo

where did you get your PRECISE 9000 figure?

The nuclear power industry?

Well I wasn't exactly holding my breath for an intelligent reply. By not even bothering to dispute anything I said, he's doing his anti-nuclear cause a lot of harm.

There are many different confirmations of the monitoring results. Even the journalist who drove through the exclusion zone at the beginning of the month provided some kind of confirmation that the results by MEXT, the Japanese police etc are perfectly genuine.

Serious as this accident is, it is certainly nothing like the same scope as Chernobyl.  There is no suggestion of high levels of contamination following the accident hundreds of kilometres away as there was at Chernobyl.

I am still waiting for Foolosophy or anybody else to deny that the map of radiation that I drew up is in any way wrong.

Reading with interest, once again, Muso.

All things considered I'll believe Greenpeace.  whatever they say. And I don't believe in much.  Not a good policy, I've found.

(Just jumped in here)  -  but  - I'd have to say 'Rule of Thumb' - that anything,  a govt in the position currently occupied by, the Japanese Govt says - is most likely the least reliable. Their technicians and science personnel are much more open.

this nuclear 'accident' simply must be as least as bad as Chernobyl. Truly it must be worse. In the levels emiited.  The immediate impact on human populations in the Chernobyl meltdown more observable than in Japan.

The Earthquake(s) and the ghastly impact of the Tsunami tend to mask the seriousness of Fukushima.

Comparisons ( a la the 'maps' offered) in no way could be considered proof of anything, the circumstances are so different -
That Japan is a series of islands, and emissions , mainly directed easterly are spread over an immense ocean, ensures these maps are purely redundant red herrings. aka a waste of time

I think we will know more in time, but for now,  we all saw that seemingly endless footage of Fukushima's Nuclear Power Plants.
A major major accident has happened,   .... and .. those emissions don't just disappear !!  I feel sad for those Japanese people who even now, may not understand that they can NEVER go home again.

So - being too lazy to read all earlier replies, you two are arguing over  wHat?? The reporting and its accuracy?  the seriousness of the damage? The data spplied by  'authorities'?  Huh

It's not actually possible to argue with Foolosophy. It's like arguing with a feral cat. It makes crazy noises, throws up fur-balls and rips up your curtains.

He's on a Glasgow Coma Scale of 6 - Does not open eyes, makes incomprehensible sounds and abnormal flexion to painful stimuli

GCS For patient is 6 = E1 V2 M3

I can only engage in debate with honest people who actually have some passion for what they post.

I am afraid muso, that you severely lack that passion.

Your selection of the dung beetle running up and down an incline sphericalising excrement from other species is very apt indeed.

There is ony 1 topic that I will engage with you and that is the health risks associated with internal emitters - and thats only because you have avoided that sensitive topic - you cannot seem to find any spin to disguise the reality.

in the meantime keep rolling those turds up and down that incline

So do you dispute the fact that the geographical spread of fallout from Fukushima is tiny in comparison to that of Chernobyl? It's something extremely obvious that you continue to play down.

Now given the fact that levels in most of Japan are at or near background. (and it's quite easy to buy a Geiger counter to check that fact), does it not strike you that a statement that it would cause 400,000 deaths is just a tiny bit exaggerated, especially given that nobody has even suffered from radiation sickness yet.

Even after 3 days into the CHernobyl disaster the Soviet Authorities were denying that the reactor had exploded. It took a Swedish radiation monitoring site to detect and make public the release of  radioactivity - even though they weren't sure where it was coming from.

In addition radiation readings from areas 50 km from Fukushima exceed the radiation levels of the Chernobyl exclusoin 20 km zone.

Gorbachev didn't address the Soviet people on TV until 3 weeks after the incident occured. Hans Brix wasnt called in until a few weeks after the initial exlplosion.

TEPCO, the Japanese coroporate puppet authorities, the international NUCLEAR agencies and the Mass media have all down played this disaster WHICH is still going on.

Plutonium and Uranium Aerosols have been detected in Hawaii, Canada and the USA

The only saving grace for this incident is that the winds have predominantly been west to east over the Pacific ocean - the world's largest ocean.

You can continue eating seafood and canned tuna caught in the region if you wish muso - good luck with the internal emitters

The ground water is contaminated, the entire eastern Japanese coastline will have contaminated sediment for thousands of years (actually for billions of years when you consider the Uranium release)

Japan is stuffed

Everything that TEPCO and the puppet government is doing is criminal and to protect their arses.

They dont care if several million people suffer and die from cancer several decades down the track

You should be morally ashamed of yourself for supporting these corporate mafiasos.

You have been shown to be WRONG on every single one of your posted assessments to date

And when I say YOUR assessments, I mean your paroting of Nuclear energy and TEPCO spin and lies.

You still beleive that the reactors are at level 5 - LOL - when in fact at least ONE reactor has a breached primary containment vessel and has a core that is still melting as we speak.

TEPCO now admits that the release was 10 times higher than initially declared to the public - More Bullshyt.

They are saying that it is about 10^14 Bq/day

Estimates show that at least 1.5 million Bq was released just in the first 3 or 4 days which is over 1/4 of the total Chernobyl release.

This does not include the 12,000 tonnes of radioactive water dumping (have you found the chemical analysis for that illegal water dump into public water ways?)

The Fukushima radiological release has already exceeded the total Chernobyl release AND it is still going on.

You can lie all you want muso - the facts wont be concealed on this one - radiation CANNOT be hidden - it is the perfect marker and tracer. Everywhere it goes it can be detected

Even though the Japanese and their TEPCO corporate masters keep getting NON-DETECTABLE readings in almost ALL of their prefecture measurements.

Funny that isnt it muso - Iceland can pick up trace amounts, but on the Japanese mainland and right off the coast, there seems to be a lot of NON-DETECTABLE measurements

Very funny that isnt muso

So I challenge you to show some alternative monitoring results (even from Greenpeace) that illustrate your assertion that the entire East coast of Japan is severely contaminated.

If you make an assertion like that, you need to come up with some data to back it up.

Quote:
In addition radiation readings from areas 50 km from Fukushima exceed the radiation levels of the Chernobyl exclusoin 20 km zone.

Are you saying that the mean radiation levels within the Chernobyl explusion zone today is less than the absolute maximum reading from the most contaminated area about 50km from Fukushima (Iitatemura) at the time when it had the highest readings ?

Unless you clarify what you mean, it's intentionally ambiguous.

So far, you haven't actually said anything intelligent. All you've done has been 'sabre rattling'
