The problem with this issue is that anything connected with nuclear power is extremely political.

You can make all kinds of inane utterances and they will be accepted by the pious, who will nod sagely and accept everything with a grave disposition.

I apologise for my sacrilege in actually bringing some science to the table. Some of it is so basic as to be ludicrously obvious. For example, a bucket with a hole in it will not hold water. The same goes for a RPV. Alpha particles from natural radiation have exactly the same carcinogenic properties as those from nuclear fuel, and beta and gamma radiation is of the order of 20 times less harmful for the same dose as  alpha radiation. Of course I understand internal and external dose. You didn't bother to read the publication I gave you previously, probably because you don't understand the concept of risk.

You probably don't 'get' how ludicrous the ideas put forward by Christopher Monckton are. You probably fit the slur of a 'warmist' because no matter how much you claim otherwise, you really don't understand any of the science. It just fits your agenda of wanting to change everything in the world because you hate the "fascist corpocracy".  In fact you would buy just about anything that fitted your agenda.

You collect ideas only if they match with your ideas of "interior design". It all makes sense.

Well I think for myself, and I make no apologies for that.  Soren was wrong about one thing. You are a woman.

So?

Everything has a political aspect to it

....except for politics which is a considered "pure science" by those who discuss it

UPDATE 1-Italy scraps nuclear power preparations

ROME, April 19 (Reuters) - Italy's government, which announced a one-year moratorium on nuclear power plant site selection and construction after the Fukushima disaster in Japan, said on Tuesday it will announce a new energy strategy following the summer break.

The move came in an amendment to a decree on nuclear energy. It would allow the government to avoid a June referendum on nuclear power plans, months after Japan's Fukushima plant was disabled by an earthquake and tsunami on March 11.

The amendment would indefinitely take off the table all the norms that had been drawn up governing how future nuclear plants would be sited and built. The cabinet would then be able to define a new national energy strategy.

"For the moment, it is important to move ahead and look to the future, using the best technology available on the market for the production of clean energy, in particular as regards renewable and green energy," Industry Minister Paolo Romani said in a statement.

He said a special conference on energy would be convened after the summer break. There, the government would present "a new energy strategy which will reinforce and strengthen the Italian energy and production system for the next 20 years."

According to a parliamentary source with close knowledge of the nuclear dossier, the move was aimed at avoiding a damaging referendum loss which would scupper any chance of reviving nuclear plans for the foreseeable future.

Earthquake-prone Italy is the only member of the Group of Eight industrialised nations that does not produce nuclear power.

This is indicative of the immediate Political cost!

In the longer term, there may be little or no choice, we may have to get into Nuclear for a transitional period, like it or not.

....if you have a nuclear power plant and something goes wrong, JUST ONCE, then your entire economy is at threat

List the foods that you would eat whent he package says MADE IN JAPAN

How do you know the tuna you are eating isnt contaminated with radionuclides spewed out into the Pacific?

Japan is now stuffed

And they can have as many exotic and nude dancers promoting the safety of eating Fukushima produce as they like - wont change a thing

In fact the more they do these embarrassing marketing excercises the more people are suspicious

I fell for the Japanese people and perhaps some of the nearby countries that will surely see fallout consequences from this disastrous Fukushima calamity

At some stage we're going to have to come to terms with the fact that if we don't collectively give a damn about our environment .. then we're permitting and inviting global genocide.

Greenpeace has been sampling soil, water and air in the Fukushima are since this incident occured. Greenpeace has also handed over ALL of its analytical results and observations to the Japanese Govnerment without any response.

Maybe they should send them in to the reactors to check the radiation levels there.

Chernobyl Uranium Inventory = 200 tonnes
Amount released into atmosphere and surroundings = 50 tonnes
Fatalities up to the year 2006 = 985,000

Fukushima Uranium Inventory = 2000 tonnes
Amount relased into the atmosphere and surroundings = ?

I see that they have reduced the evacuation zone from 30km to 8km, but they have evacuated some selected areas around the NW corridor that were showing hot-spots, despite the protests of the local mayor (of Iitatemura).

Why are you going on about TEPCO? They don't specify incident levels.
