Why is this information not part of the mainstream media content?

The group released a report this week saying samples of milk, berries, potatoes and root vegetables in two Ukrainian regions showed contamination. The regions tested in the investigation are outside the so-called "exclusion zone" around the Chernobyl plant, which has been deemed uninhabitable.

Greenpeace said the tests revealed higher than acceptable levels of cesium-137, a radioactive contaminant, in the foods. Greenpeace scientist Iryna Labunska said the contaminant represents a long-term threat to public health. Labunska criticized the Ukrainian government for stopping regular monitoring of food contamination from Chernobyl two years ago

Hmmm so you DO suffer from the 'wharfy/it_is_the_light' problem of answering your posts...

Why isn't that a surprise???

Fool,

Which do you think would be worse for the environment? 1. A milk tanker crashing off a bridge into a slow moving creek discharging its entire contents? or  2. A Cs -137 level in that creek three times the legal limit.

Give your reasons.

I would think that neither, are proper comparisons, to either Chernobyl or Fukushima!

...I notice that someone who will remain nameless paraded in here with dismissive statements about how quickly radioactive CHLORINE decays.

let me see now - I wonder what happens to sea water when dumped onto exposed fuel/spent fuel rods and bombarded with neutrons AND allowed to interact with a cocktail of radio istotopes????

Oh dear, it seems that sea water contains rather MORE than just chlorine

Your spiritual problem gizmo is that you consciously or sub-consciously (who knows how your mental state infiltrates your everyday meanderigns) allow your right wing politics to contaminate basic scientific principles and facts.

You're not alone with this affliction which I call Psuedo-Nuerotic-Sociopahtic-Syndrome (PNSS).

Luckily gizmo there is only ONE knwon cure for this spiritual disease

A little more time on the 'spell-checker' might actually make you seem less NEUROTIC and perhaps worth listening to...

see who is running the show?

The dumping sparked a furious row between TEPCO and the government, with Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano forced to apologise to South Korea and to local fishermen for failing to explain the move properly.

Japan's Agriculture Minister Michihiko Kano criticised TEPCO for failing to notify his ministry about the dumping, which was approved by the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency.

A furious Mr Kano said the failure to warn him was "deplorable" and TEPCO "must get its act together".

The government has suggested that TEPCO should compensate fishermen for losses stemming from the contamination.

Still, the vested interests and authorities continue to collude to downplay the gravely dangerous significance of this ongoing incident...

Notice how the radioactive isotope that TEPCO and its Japanese Government puppet talke about is Iodine-131.

LOL

I wonder if anyone here can explain to me the Physics involved that will lead to a radiological disaster from several Uranium and MOX fuel reactors that have comprimised cores which have partially (or fully) melted whereby ONLY IODINE-131 is released into the atmosphere??

According to my Physics handbook, this SINGLE-ISTOTOPE scenario is NOT possible. There must also be Cesium131, Strontium90, Plutonium, Uranium and a host of other exotic radionucleotides that were released into the environment (just as there were in the Chernobyl disaster)

Where are the soil sample test results?

Where is the LEGALLY required chemical analysis for the dumping of radioactive waste water into public water ways?

Where is the testing for alpha emitting radionucleotides int he soil, air and water?

What a ficking cover up on all levels.

And for someone to suggest that they will get away with this criminal action fails to understand that the real long lasting nasties like Plutonium that have been released and dumped are easy to detect - even many thousands of years later.

I suppose TEPCO will be in receivership by then and its CEO's in Jail hopefully

I'm not acting as an apologist for TEPCO or anybody else, but you seem to have a burning desire to get some answers, and then there's the question of that bulging vein on your forehead.

Your physics handbook probably doesn't cover such things as the chemistry of the daughter isotopes concerned, particularly their solubility.

You probably need to look at that analysis again and try to work out how these elements got there.  I agree that the Chlorine 40(?) is probably a result of neutron capture by Calcium 40.

Meantime I have work to do. Have fun.

the exclusion zone in Fukushima is producing higher radioactive readings than when Chernobyl occured

Outside the rediculous Fukushima exclusion zone there is radiation above safety limits - and all that TEPCO and the Japanese government puppets can say is to stay indoors and not drink the water or eat local food

LOL

The 3 explosions that occured at the reators spewed out a cocktail of lethal radinucleotides INCLUDING Plutonium.

And all they refer to is Iodine 131 having a short half life of 8 days and anyway it only gives you thyroid cancer whihc is 98% curable

if it wasnt criminal it would be laughable

Where are the soil, water and air analyses? INCLUDING the alpha emitting particles liek Plutonium which are NOT detected by gieger counters?

I feel for the Japanese people
