...

Climate Change Minister Greg Combet yesterday said Opposition Leader Tony Abbott's prediction that the carbon tax would inspire a "people's revolt" was borrowed from the US.

"It's (from) the Tea Party, the far right of US politics," Mr Combet said.

Colin Barnett warns of 'Tea Party' GST revolt

February 24, 2011 7:55PM

WEST Australian Premier Colin Barnett has warned of a
"Tea Party"
style revolt in his state if the commonwealth doesn't offer a fairer deal on sharing GST revenue.

"I think the commonwealth, certainly at a public service level in Canberra, understands that basically you've got a
Tea Party
situation in Western Australia," Mr Barnett said.

"
The Tea Party
movement in the United States is basically a public revolt, if you like, against excessive taxation and regulation.

Well at least we know where the Abbott liberal party is getting its political advice from.
Seriously as my mum used to say,
"If America jumped off a cliff would you?"
It appears so where the liberals are concerned.

Smithy - I have had the benefit of watching a bit of C-Span the last few months and like with GWB (who spoke so well at our conference) the media portrayal of her is wrong and unfair.

She makes very good points and I find a lot of similarities with her on issues.

She loves America, she wants whats best for it, she believes in the free market, she believes in small Government, she believes in Reagan's vision for America, she believes in strong US foreign policy.

She like me, abhors Obama's vision on healthcare and taxes.

America needs less Government, not more.

When you have the Chairman of GMC calling Obama "one of the most arrogant men I have ever met" - and here we have a guy that has played golf with every President since Nixon - then we have a problem.

I think you'll find it quite hard to find any politician these days in a democratic country who doesn't believe in free market or love their country, and want what's best for it.  The key point is for the person to actually have a vision for the country and be smart enough to pull it off. Too bad she is as thick as a door knob.  Like most nutter right wingers, of course.

LOL...yer, remind us how many of them were 'black' men arrogant enough to rise above their deservedly-lowly status to play golf with their natural masters - much less presume the right to lead the 'free world'!?

Thick as a doorknob?
Not a term I have heard before, but I take your point, she is seriously stupid, in many areas, and while people bemoan her treatment by the non Fox media, nothing they say condemns her more, than the rubbish that spews from her own mouth.

Seriously thick?? Sure is.
Responsible option to lead the USA? Never.

She's just as doGmatic and moronic as Bush was - which makes many regard her as the female equivalent of the ideal oxymoronic 'puppet leader'...
