OK, I sort of had something to say before the whole pissing competition started (a bunch of people going on about how big and important they are on an anonymous message board kind of makes me think you are all just living in your mother's basement anyway).

Oh yeah. I disagree with this woman's choice but that is only because it is not the choice I would make with my own money. The thing is, it isn't my money, or the kids money either, so the money goes to the church.

My mother has been extremely generous to us kids and has set us up really well. I also know she has earmarked most of her money to go the charities of her choice when she passes away. She is happy to do this because we have made the most of the opportunities she gave us and are doing just fine.

How do we know how much the woman in question has done for these children in the past, and whether or not they made the most of it? I'm figuring that the whole story is not adequately represented by the OP.

On the whole "religion is evil" thing. Yep, the major religions are capable of great evil and have perpetrated it in the past. But not everything about religion is necessarily evil or bad. Further, you can find a lot of good in individual churches, synagogues, mosques etc that may be built around a community of generally good, caring people.

Sometimes you see  this kind of thing as well:

http://imgur.com/NhC4m (I don't know how to paste pictures here, so you need to go to the link, sorry)

... and you realise that even religion has a has the capacity for good in the hands of the right people.

If the woman in question stumbled on this capacity for good (that I attribute to the people working together, rather than any old man in the sky) then, maybe, to her, the decision was the most rational one she had ever made.

Will someone bring out the violins !!

Why nail, because its a rationale well thought out post that doesnt play into your agenda?

So you still have no proof the Church has done anything wrong do you nail or bobby.

So instead you are playing diversionary tactics to sway people which doesnt work.

I would of though you pair would at least respect someones right to do with their money as they please.

This thread is the same as Buzz's post-election meltdown thread. it is just booby and gaynails version of the same thing. total avoidance of most facts and a misinterpretation of the rest. And just likes buzz'z cry-a-thon thread, these two numbskulls just keep on posting hoping to convert someone by the volume of the words.

The inquisition was infamous for accusing, and harshly condemning people for misdeeds, without logical evidence.

Does this remind anyone of anyone?

No wonder you brain dead libbos have such a hard time trying to understand climate change !! You are still living back in the dark ages with the rest of the flat earthers Sad

Hi Lisa,
Don't see this thread as any criticism of you.
Most people in the Catholic Church do great deeds for society -
as do many people in other churches.
Still we can't ignore the past - and in some cases the recent past -
in other cases - what's happening right now.

In this case disabled kids disinherited with the money & house
going to perhaps the most wealthy business in the world.
Who will look after them now? - Longweekend or Mavis?

The tax payer will foot the bill of course Sad The tax payer being the biggest donater to welfare whilst churches like to take credit for all of it whilst contributing the least Sad

Your "evidence" doesnt mean squat because worthy is in the eye of the person making the gift.

Only you would think you should be able to control the minds and decisions of others making them at free will.

But there is nothing to stop me from criticizing them.

Stockpiling money in bank vaults, property deals and decorating exotic church buildings whilst the pope enjoys a 5 star hotel service each day is not my idea of a worthy cause. If you think it is then I suggest that you give till it hurts !!

At no stage have I said they are worthy, however I am defending the womans rights to do as she pleases with her money, and her rights to her own beliefs.

Its a concept you seem to struggle with.
