What is politics thread?
Jan 1st, 2011 at 12:25pm

With all these threads being moved for apparently random reasons can someone actually DEFINE what an acceptable politics thread is? If discussion on climate change and NBN isnt politics and anything that a mod doesnt like ending up in some othe place so it can die, exactly what is suppsoed to be the nature of this board?

this seems to happen too often on here. political discussion is wide-ranging, partisan, rude and yes it even strays off topic.

If you even want a politics board then perhaps move those threads that are totally off topic and leave the rest.

Your right to do what you want on your own board is unequivocal. Just dont expect praise for quasi-censorship.

The board title is not politics. It is "Politicians Suck".

I have added this description:

Quote:
Australian politicians, parties, elections and party policies.

I wanted to include Quote:
A home for mindless partisan cheerleaders
but it was too long.

Oh my apologies. I thought a website called ozPOLITIC and a board on politicians might actually want discussions on POLITICS.

oh and by the way if you actually make a thread about how gillard or Abbott SUCK mozza just unilaterally moves it to the extremism board.

so how about you make up your mind about that you want? do you want a politics board or not? do you want political discussion or not? If so then create a board for ACTUAL POLITICS or do we all just jump in the general board and discuss politics? so you either want political discussion or not. and if not, change your domain name.

So tell me why the NBN is not a party policy?
Explain why Climate change is not a party and policy issue?

I cant work you out. you have bugger-all to actually say on the board but when you do it is to do things like this.

I'm thinking I will just keep to posting and reading general section, then I will not be posting in the wrong section.

Easy solution

So, we have a politics forum with about 20 boards, but you think only one of those is for politics?

That must make it confusing for you.

Here's how it works. I try to judge what the thread is actually about. If it focusses on mindless partisan cheerleading, it goes here. If it is about the issue itself rather than the players, it goes in one of the other boards.

There's an environment board for "climate change" discussion.
There is also a tech board where the NBN could be discussed, though I do tend to agree that as its a political policy of Labor to have it, that it probably should be in the politicians suck board.

I think the problem is that since all you newbies turned up the politicians suck board has been used for many things not suitable to it, because most of you realise its the board that has the most traffic.

There were at least a dozen threads on the NBN. I think I only moved one or two of them.

To me thats the problem, so many threads are started about the same subject just with a different tilt on them.
how many ways can they say they hate Gillard Labor?
Its not just the newbies who do it, sprint finds a new way to say he hates Gillard every day.
Maybe we should just have an I hate Labor thread and an I hate liberal thread, and all the mindless bitching about both parties could go into those threads.

Yeah Skippy, but there IS a difference between the 'science' of climate change and the 'political' implications of same...don't you agree??
