There were at least a dozen threads on the NBN. I think I only moved one or two of them.

To me thats the problem, so many threads are started about the same subject just with a different tilt on them.
how many ways can they say they hate Gillard Labor?
Its not just the newbies who do it, sprint finds a new way to say he hates Gillard every day.
Maybe we should just have an I hate Labor thread and an I hate liberal thread, and all the mindless bitching about both parties could go into those threads.

I used to merge threads like that, but it is too much effort. I see 99% of partisan debates the same way you see sprints threads. This is the spot to dump all of it.

If sprint is getting responses and starting debate, good for him.

I have added this description:

Quote:
Australian politicians, parties, elections and party policies.

I wanted to include Quote:
A home for mindless partisan cheerleaders
but it was too long.

So tell me why the NBN is not a party policy?
Explain why Climate change is not a party and policy issue?

I cant work you out. you have bugger-all to actually say on the board but when you do it is to do things like this.

There's an environment board for "climate change" discussion.
There is also a tech board where the NBN could be discussed, though I do tend to agree that as its a political policy of Labor to have it, that it probably should be in the politicians suck board.

Yeah Skippy, but there IS a difference between the 'science' of climate change and the 'political' implications of same...don't you agree??

Climate change is a science debate, though the debate is over, most science agrees its imminent.
In fact the only people confused about it are from the far right of politics, who have always cared more about their own pockets than their own children's future.

Well its not hard to get response to "I hate Gillard " when there is a feeding frenzy mentality from the right wing of this forum.
Though the left wing of the forum, and I admit to being guilty, like to chew on " I hate Abbott" threads, we don't start them ad nauseum on a daily basis, in fact I think you'd be hard pressed to find a thread anywhere near that description, though there are Gillard bashing threads many with the same contents of existing threads started daily.

You are right. People have very little self control. But I am happy to cater for them also.

Re: NOTE ON STARTING NEW THREADS
Reply #38 - Sep 22nd, 2010, 10:52pm   This board is for partisan issues - about (Australian) politicians, political parties and party policies. If your thread does is not about one of these please please put it on one of the other boards. For some reason p[eople seem to think this is the general board. Or maybe they just want to put their special post on the most popular board.

==================
Having a "Politicians Suck" board is too restrictive, it should simply be "POLITICS".

In any event, it is VERY hit & miss on what is allowed & what gets moved.

The boards would be better of, if moderators looked at those posts that are offensive & dealt with them & those who post them & let the rest take care of itself!

How is it restrictive? You do realise there are other boards, right? Wouldn't it be confusing to have a politics sub-board on a politics forum?

It would seem that there's a few who think that "Politicians Suck" is the only politics board on here.

Because there is a lot more to Politics, than Politicians who Suck!

By your own definition, "This board is for partisan issues - about (Australian) politicians, political parties and party policies".

That statement encompasses the broad spectrum of Politics, everything related to Politicians, their Party's & their policies come under that umbrella.

There are other boards and they are appropriate, a politics sub-board is not required, but "Politics Suck" should simply should be expanded to all things Political, as per your own statement.

Moderators could then focus more on addressing some of the offensive posts & posters!

In fact this discussion bears a reprint of my thoughts on the Board, from December 12th, 2010.

It seems that the very structure of the boards lends itself to some of the reason (in fact, quite a bit), for the attention of moderators.

If the boards were re-organised along the following lines, then it would "lessen the number of posts that need to be moved", which seems to be one of the prevalent issues -
General Board - including Chat sub-heading
Global Thinking Board - to include all things Global
Political Board - All things relevant to Australian Politics, including sub-headings for Sustainability Party, Liberal Democratic Party and Economics (Federal & State)
Fedback Board - including Technically Speaking sub-heading
Spirituallity, Religion Board - including Islam sub-heading
Health & Wellbeing Board - including sub-headings for Relationships, Secret Womens Business & Multiculturalism & Race, Philosophy and Drugs
Environment Board - including Hunting & Fishing sub-heading
Finance & Shares Board - including sub-headings for Finance News & Stocks & Shares Talk
Other Board - including sub-headings for Fringe, Transport, Extremism

A revamp in the above line may immediately cut out some of the need for "threads & posts" being moved, although frankly, I don't think "moving threads" achieves a great deal, anyway.

The main bugbear with internet boards (everywhere), are mainly via the attitudes of people, who are intolerant that everyone has differring perceptions of the same set of facts and that will remain.

The 'trick" being to allow discussion, but bring down the curtain on abuse!

Btw, you are also correct about these boards & democracy!

So the general board would be for apolitical stuff?
